Bluesfest 2019 – Day 2

With Day 2 of Bluesfest 2019 in the books we are getting into the full swing of things. Things kicked off at 6pm today but we learned early that Colter Wall was going to be canceling his set. Rumor is he didn’t make the flight here.

We almost completely got rained out today. They festival had to completely shut down and hope that the storm would pass. People got ushered into the War Museum to keep safe in hopes that the storm would pass. They got pretty antsy but sure enough around 7pm they gave us the all clear and people just poured out of the building.

Due to the rain we missed all the starting acts which had to be canceled. The only salvation was Gabriel Goulet who was playing in the Barney Danson Theatre which was inside the war museum. She was able to play a full set and the fans that were able to get seats were treated to an intimate show while they waited out the rain.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit

Once we got out into the grounds, we made our way over to the City Stage just in time to catch Jason Isbell and the 400 unit.

They were actually able to keep their original time and the show went on without a hitch. The crowd got right up and centre which the band did its thing like only they know how.

One of the key moments was the amazing violin solo. You could tell that Jason and the rest of the band was having fun and happy they were able to perform.

Yungblud

I quickly made my way over to the VideoTron stage to see Yungblud. This one was going to be the main act I was here to see today, and I was certainly excited.

I personally have never seen him in person but his videos you know you’re going to have a show! The fans went nuts as he hit the stage in one of his signature dresses which shocked a lot of the photographers in the pit.

He started out with so much energy and was feeding off the fans more and more. I would bet on the fact that there will be no one with nearly as much energy this whole festival.

He was jumping and kicking and spinning around just living his best life! The fans were so hyped up they were jumping along and singing and just plan going nuts.

Yungblud was going nuts and threw his guitar into his amp quickly followed up by his mic stand.

Closer to the end he even jumped right into the crowd for some body surfing. This was one hell of a show and if you missed out then you should feel bad!

Eric Church

Eric Church is closing out the night. Unfortunately, media was not allowed to get in the pit and shoot but the show must go on.

The crowd came out in force for the closing of day 2 and I mean in force. Line ups were absolutely insane. Eric Church has one of the biggest fan clubs and you could tell.

He played a nice mix of old and new songs which was great while making sure the crowd got involved. There is always a few tried and tested songs that get the fans a little more excited and he knew right when to use them.

All in all it was a pretty good way to end what could have been a rained out second day at Bluesfest 2019.

With Day 2 at an end I can only hope that we will keep seeing amazing acts like we did the last couple of days. Tomorrow is a new day and The Glorious Sons and Taking Back Sunday are going to kill it!
