NOA
Who or what is your biggest inspiration/influence when it comes to music?

When it comes to music I tend to write about whatever is happening in my life at that moment. Strong emotions trigger my writing process and I use my lyrics as a way to sift through my thoughts and I get try to get to the root of why I’m feeling the way I am. Good people and good music also inspire my writing, especially in co-writes when we’re bouncing idea’s back and forth.

The song “Hypocritical”, you’ve talked very candidly about how difficult it was seeing the snaps and insta with the grieving process. What advice would you give to folks going through a breakup?

I think the best advice for anyone going through a breakup is to remember that everything happens for a reason and the person you’re meant to be with will choose you the same way that you choose them. Take it as an opportunity to focus on yourself, learn and grow!

Maggie Rogers said it best “My favorite songs are dancing while crying songs”. Is that a vibe you strive for in your music, or just a happy accident?

Haha, that’s actually one of my favorite quotes from Maggie. I think blending emotions and contrasting sad lyrics with more upbeat melodies, creates a really cool juxtaposition. Definitely not intentional, but I love that that’s a vibe that comes across.

Who would your dream collaboration be with if you had the chance?

John Mayer and Elton John hands down.

It was pretty brave of you to write the clap-back track “Oh Charlie” back in 2016, what was the reception to it, and what would you do differently?

Thanks! I got a lot of messages from girls around the world with similar stories about having been stood up. I wanted to give others a voice through my music and bring light to something that happens a lot and let people know that they’re not alone.

What was it like to work with Ryan Teddar and Scott Borchetta on The Launch?

Such a cool experience. They’re both legends and it was an honor to sing for them and work with them on the show.

What was it like working with Jonathan Asperil as the producer and Jayson Defour mixing the track? They have some big names under their belts.

Jonathan is crazy talented and I’m so excited to be releasing our first single together. We met at Berklee College of Music back in 2014 and have been good friends ever since. Getting into the studio with people you vibe with is what it’s all about. Jay is incredible and it’s always a pleasure to work with him. His mixes really bring every song to the next level.

What was the inspiration and creative process for Motions?

I actually wrote Motions on Valentines Day last year. The song takes you through the journey of post breakup thoughts and how it feels to be on your own for the first time in a while. Picture yourself at 1AM, you can’t sleep, so you’re sitting on your kitchen counter eating a bowl of cereal lost in your thoughts reminiscing about your ex.

What is the story you are trying to tell with your music?

I hope to give others a voice through my music. Life can be pretty hard sometimes, so I hope that my music can make people feel less alone.

What advice would you give to a new artist coming up in the industry who might be listening to you?

Trust your gut always and remember that it’s your art, not anyone else’s. Be fearless with the choices you want to make!

What’s next for you with your music?

I can’t wait to keep releasing the songs I’ve been writing!

What do you want to tell your fans?

I’m so excited to keep sharing my art with you.

Thank you for all the love and support and for being on this journey with me! ilu.
