The Arkells have long established themselves as a stalwart of the Canadian music scene having release their first album back in 2006. As a quintessentially Canadian rock band, their small but dedicated fanbase may not fill arenas, but they have the energy to power a city. The band hit the stage around 9pm and lead singer Max Kerman worked like a master, hyping the crowd and building the energy up and down the catwalk stage that extended into the audience. The band was joined on stage with a four piece horn section to fill out their already big sound and together they worked the the show into more of a party/nightclub vibe than the arena everyone arrived at. The setlist included songs from across the bands discography and they interspersed acoustic songs on the smaller, intimate, front of the catwalk with their bigger rocking tunes with their full production. The show was opened by Toronto quartet Valley. Despite some unforced errors by the sound crew at the beginning of their set, the band played to a small but appreciative audience.
