ME and SiriusXM Present the 22nd Edition of Festival de musique émergente en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (FME)

Festival de musique émergente en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (FME), in collaboration with SiriusXM as the official presenter, proudly announces the 22nd edition of the festival, showcasing a rich and diverse lineup from August 29th to September 1st, 2024. Renowned for its eclectic mix of genres and boundary-pushing performances, FME promises another unforgettable experience with nearly 100 performances across Rouyn-Noranda’s premium concert venues and unique locations.

SiriusXM's Commitment to Emerging Talent

Jean-Philippe Lavoie, Manager of Strategic Development for Canadian Content at SiriusXM, expressed the organization’s pride in continuing its partnership with FME. “Year after year, this festival offers programming flush with young emerging musicians, resonating with our mandate to showcase new Canadian talent. We’re thrilled to support FME in celebrating our culture through music,” he said.

Diverse Programming to Suit All Tastes

The festival’s outdoor stages will feature a wide range of styles, from rap and pop to neo-R&B, African rock, and post-punk. Thursday evening kicks off with Hawa B, whose music blends soul, jazz, and alternative rock. Later that night, the stage will host Orchestra Gold from Oakland, CA, offering a fusion of Malian musical traditions with funky brass and cosmic guitars, followed by the post-punk group BODEGA from New York, NY, and Montréal’s celebrated Karkwa.

Friday’s lineup includes hip-hop prodigy GreenWoodz, Rymz from Joy Ride Records, and the legendary rapper Souldia, who will bring his award-winning Francophone hip-hop to the stage. Saturday’s showcase features Haviah Mighty, the first-ever hip-hop artist to win the prestigious Polaris Music Prize, followed by the much-anticipated return of Loud Lary Ajust.

New Partners and Exciting Collaborations

Fizz, a first-time sponsor of FME, is excited to join the festival, with General Director Martin Gendron emphasizing the brand’s commitment to supporting Quebec’s vibrant cultural scene. Fizz will host after-hours performances on the Scène Fizz, featuring a mix of alternative rock, rap, and turntablism from artists like Élégie, Érika Zaria, and Turbine.

Hydro-Québec will present a Saturday afternoon concert at Guinguette chez Edmund, with performances by Miel Azevedo, Grand Eugène, and Rau_ze, the 2022 Francouvertes grand winners. These artists will bring a blend of jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and rock to the scenic stage overlooking Osisko Lake.

Festival Highlights and Special Events

FME 2024 promises an immersive experience with programming that spans alternative rock, avant-garde electronic music, and experimental sounds. Key performances include French group Mossaï Mossaï, Galaxie, and Montreal country-folk artist Joe Grass.
