The walls of the Bell Centre in Montreal shook as metal giants Korn took the stage, supported by an explosive lineup including Loathe and Gojira. Fans from across Quebec gathered for what turned out to be an unforgettable night of pure energy, nostalgia, and metal mastery.
Opening the night was Loathe, a heavy metal band hailing from Liverpool, England. No strangers to Montreal, this marked their second appearance in the city this year, following a performance with Spiritbox at MTELUS. Loathe brought their signature dark and moody atmosphere, captivating the audience with haunting soundscapes and aggressive energy. Despite being the first act, their commanding presence and intensity left a lasting impression, proving once again why they are one of the most exciting bands on the rise in the UK metal scene.
Next up was Gojira, the acclaimed French metal band with a global following. Their set was nothing short of monumental, complete with blazing pyro, CO2 cannons, and crushing riffs. Known for making history as the first metal band to perform at the Olympics in 2024, Gojira brought that same world-stage energy to Montreal. Drummer Mario Duplantier connected with the crowd through hand-written signs in Quebecois French, which drew huge cheers from the local fans. Returning to the Bell Centre after previously opening for Deftones, their homecoming to a French-speaking province felt electric—made even more special by opening for Korn.
When the curtain dropped for Korn, the crowd erupted. Opening with their iconic track “Blind,” the band wasted no time unleashing their raw, nu-metal energy. Frontman Jonathan Davis was in top form, his vocals pitch-perfect as he delivered every word with emotional weight. A highlight of the set was Davis’s signature bagpipe intro, leading into a track that brought waves of nostalgia to long-time fans. The band also delivered a powerful cover of Metallica’s “One” and paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne during the encore. As expected, they closed with their legendary hit “Freak on a Leash,” sending the Bell Centre into a final frenzy.
From rising stars to metal legends, the night was a celebration of everything heavy. Loathe’s dark vibe, Gojira’stheatrical firepower, and Korn’s legacy performance made this Montreal show one for the books. For anyone wondering if nu-metal still holds power in 2025—the answer rang loud and clear from the stage of the Bell Centre.
