Halestorm in Vancouver was a full-blown celebration as the powerhouse rock band took over Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Center on singer Lzzy Hale’s birthday. Thousands packed the UBC arena, ready to unleash their energy to tracks from the group’s latest album EVEREST, which released in August. Halestorm shared the spotlight with the electrifying violinist, singer, and dancer Lindsey Stirling. Joining forces for the aptly named nEVEREST Duality Tour. A co-headlining spectacle that fused rock grit with cinematic flair. Opening the night was Apocalyptica, and though we unfortunately missed their set, fans were quick to say it rivalled their headline show earlier this year. That alone set the tone for the unforgettable evening of raw sound and energy we were about to experience with Lindsey Stirling.

A Spellbinding Fairytale Brought To Life By The Imagination of Lindsey Stirling

If you grew up during the golden age of YouTube when Smosh and PewDiePie ruled the platform, chances are you watched Lindsey Stirling. With more than 14 million subscribers and countless TV appearances, the one-of-a-kind violinist has cemented her place among modern greats. That legendary status carried into her Vancouver show, where fans packed the venue in full force. Many dressed to match the night’s whimsical energy, including one standout in full “…Baby One More Time” Britney Spears attire.

From the moment Stirling hit the stage, her imagination took flight. The show opened with her dancing around a podium and a spell-book, as if conjuring her own arrival. When Lindsey burst onto the scene with “The Arena/Underground,” Vancouver was swept into a 15-track journey through her greatest hits. From her latest album Duality, which the night celebrated, fans were treated to five tracks including “Evil Twin,” “Untamed,” and “Firefly Alley”. The set also featured favourites like “Artemis,” “The Phoenix,” and “Foreverglow”. Some standout covers turned heads, with electrifying renditions of Darude’s “Sandstorm,” Eiffel 65’s “Blue,” and a crowd-pleasing take on Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” that delighted that very excited fan.

Highlights of the performance included Stirling’s stunning ability to move with effortless grace while playing. Years of dedication were on full display as she glided across the stage, hitting every note with precision. Her dancers matched her energy, adding layers of movement that amplified the visual spectacle. As the set neared its finale, Lindsey introduced a spin-the-wheel segment to decide the next song. The choices ranged from deep cuts to Christmas favourites, offering fans a full spectrum of surprises. When the wheel landed on a rare track, the crowd erupted. Savouring a moment few ever expected to witness live. The set closed with a powerful cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir”. Fans took in the moment, proud to have supported an artist they’ve followed for nearly 15 years. With this being her first Vancouver show in almost a decade, the standing ovation that followed was long and heartfelt. A clear display of the city’s love and loyalty to Lindsey Stirling.

Halestorm Puts On A Performance As Big As Everest

Halestorm’s Vancouver stop turned into a full-throttle rock spectacle. Twenty songs thundered through the UBC arena as fans packed in tight, ready to celebrate Lzzy Hale’s birthday in style. Before the lights dropped, the crowd buzzed with excitement, hoisting handmade signs in tribute to their front-woman. A glowing Kabuki screen lit the stage, silhouettes flickering in anticipation. Then, the eruption came as “Fallen Star” kicked curtain crashing down, and the band burst into view. Hale’s grin stretched wide as the roar of the crowd hit. Pride, joy, and pure gratitude radiated from her as she unleashed every ounce of energy Vancouver could handle.

The setlist delivered everything fans could have hoped for and more. With Everest recently released to widespread acclaim, anticipation ran high for new tracks. Vancouver got the full experience, including “Gather The Lambs,” “Shiver,” and “Darkness Always Wins”. Halestorm wasted no time diving into their biggest hits, firing off “I Miss The Misery” as the second song of the night. Opening with such a powerhouse track showed their confidence and command of the stage. The show moved fluidly through material from The Strange Case of…, Back From The Dead, Self-Titled, and Into The Wild Life. One of the night’s biggest surprises came when Apocalyptica joined the band for a thunderous rendition of “Like A Woman Can,” sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Early in the night, bursts of confetti showered the crowd and stage, igniting a celebration that brought fans even closer together. The energy surged, and so did the admiration for Lzzy Hale’s powerhouse vocals. Hearing her live is an entirely different experience from the studio recordings. Throughout the night, her voice commanded the arena, leaving fans stunned. During the opening of “I Miss The Misery,” she held a single note far longer than the recorded version, giving Vancouver enough time to erupt in cheers before the song kicked in.

The nEVEREST DUALITY Tour reached its peak with an encore that perfectly captured the blend of Lindsey Stirling’s world and Halestorm’s raw power.
