Aidan Bissett in Minneapolis: The "shut up and love me" Tour Brings Heart and High Energy

Lulu Simon

Opening the night was Lulu Simon, who immediately set the tone with her dreamy pop sound. She started her set with “Something,” drawing the crowd in from the first note. A few songs in, she surprised everyone with a nostalgic cover of One Direction’s “Night Changes” — and the audience went wild for it. As much as I love hearing original music, there’s something uniquely special about a crowd collectively screaming the lyrics to a beloved classic. Between songs, Lulu shared the stories behind her writing — whether it was about a toxic relationship or a childhood pet, she made it easy to step into her shoes and feel the moments that inspired her songs.

Zach Hood

Next up was Zach Hood, joined by Sawyer Utah, and the energy immediately jumped. He opened with the upbeat “Pink Ferrari,” and while the set hit a brief technical hiccup afterward, Zach didn’t miss a beat. Instead of letting it kill the vibe, he played rock-paper-scissors with fans in the crowd until things got sorted out — a move that made him feel both personable and quick on his feet.

He continued with a mix of original tracks and a standout cover of Gracie Abrams’ “That’s So True,” which had the whole room singing along. He closed with fan favorite “Isabelle” and my personal favorite, “Weatherman.” Zach was the perfect lead-in to Aidan — close enough in style to keep the energy flowing, but distinct enough to make the transition exciting.

Aidan Bissett

By the time Aidan Bissett hit the stage, the Varsity Theatre was electric. He kicked off with “Reading Into It,” grabbing everyone’s attention immediately. Between songs, Aidan opened up about the inspiration behind his new album, shut up and love me — a raw, honest look at failed relationships and situationships, a theme that clearly resonated with the crowd.

But in true Aidan fashion, he kept the mood light too — even choosing a “bride” from the crowd during “Are We In Love Yet.” He delivered a well-balanced setlist of new tracks and fan favorites, including “2 much 2 handle,” which had the entire room singing every word. He closed with “Tripping Over Air,” ending the night on a high note that lingered even after the lights came on.

I’ve been a fan of Aidan’s for a while, but this was my first time experiencing his live fan interactions — and I was genuinely impressed. Despite being on vocal rest between shows, he still made time to meet every fan at the merch table after the show. That’s not something every artist does — it takes time, energy, and genuine appreciation. Watching him go out of his way like that made me respect him even more, not just as an artist, but as a human being.

Final Thoughts

Aidan’s Minneapolis stop was the perfect mix of chaos, charm, and connection — a clear reminder of why his fanbase keeps growing. His effortlessly electric performance proved that shut up and love me isn’t just the name of a tour — it’s an experience. And this one definitely lived up to the hype.
