Homecoming Tour 2.0: Paul Brandt & Terri Clark in Ottawa

Ottawa’s very own Meridian Theatre played host to an unforgettable evening as Canadian country icons Paul Brandt and Terri Clark brought their Homecoming Tour 2.0 to the capital.

On this crisp fall night, hundreds of fans filed into the theatre, buzzing with anticipation for an acoustic set that promised warmth, laughter and nostalgia. The stage glowed with flickering candles; two red leather chairs and a vintage rug set the perfect backdrop for this intimate evening. From cheeky humor to raw talent, Paul Brandt and Terri Clark’s show captured the audience’s hearts.

A Cozy Candlelit Country Concert

With no scheduled opener, Paul and Terri walked onto the rustically designed stage dressed in style both rocking sleek black outfits topped with matching black cowboy hats. The audience immediately knew they were in for a treat and erupted into cheers. The night kicked off with Terri Clark’s hit “Girls Lie Too”, setting a joyful, tongue-in-cheek tone for the evening. Laughter rippled through the audience as the two effortlessly traded banter and stories between songs. Paul followed with his own brand of humor, recounting a moment when someone approached him not knowing that Canada had country music. His deadpan reply  “Well you see, I’m from southern Canada” drew roaring laughter and applause.

Following the playful opener, the duo leaned into their roots with a well known classic “Alberta  Bound” which had the audience singing along. From there, Paul shifted gears into his heartful original “All About Her”, which seamlessly transitioned into a fun and unexpected mashup with one of Terri’s own songs. This was a clever musical moment that certainly showcased their chemistry and creative spontaneity.

Their easygoing camaraderie continued between songs, with Terri teasing Paul as a “sensitive Sofie,” to which he responded in true comedic fashion by whipping out a cowbell and clanging it with exaggerated enthusiasm. The lighthearted energy kept flowing as they performed a string of fan favourite, including Paul’s cheeky song “The King”. What made the night truly special was its balance, a brilliantly crafted set that felt both intricate and effortlessly simple.
