Fit For A King in Montréal

Fit For A King in Montréal for a Night of Metalcore

Montreal’s L’Olympia was the place to be as Fit For a King brought a stacked lineup of metalcore and deathcore heavyweights to the city. From explosive crowd participation to flawless live musicianship, every band delivered a unique energy that made the night one of the most memorable heavy shows of the year. Here’s a full breakdown of the chaos, atmosphere, and standout performances.

156/Silence – Pittsburgh Metalcore That Hit Hard from the Start

Kicking off the night, 156/Silence proved exactly why they’ve become a popular name in metalcore. Montreal gave them a massive pop for an opening band, with crowd surfers immediately pouring toward the barricade and circle pits erupting across the floor.

Their mix of clean vocals transitioning seamlessly into screams set the tone for the entire show. Active since 2015 and still evolving, the band recently dropped their newest single, “Our Parting Ways” (released October 15, 2025), and fans reacted loudly the moment it hit the setlist.

Spite – Pure Californian Deathcore Intensity

Next up was Spite, the Southern California deathcore unit whose live intensity continues to hit on a different level. You mentioned shooting them last year with Dying Fetus at MTelus, and once again their performance stood out as one of the most powerful of the night.

Before they even stepped onstage, the crowd was already chanting “Spite!” — and the chants continued between songs. Their relentless aggression, stage presence, and ability to command an audience made them a clear highlight of the lineup.

Make Them Suffer – Australia’s Metalcore Powerhouse

Make Them Suffer followed with one of the most polished and energetic sets of the night. Having shot them earlier this year at Beanfield Theatre, you already knew how dynamic they are — but the L’Olympia crowd took it to another level.

Their backup vocalist/keyboardist executed transitions so cleanly that you’d barely notice the switch. The band jumped and bounded across the stage with endless energy, backed by an amazing lighting show that elevated every breakdown and chorus. Fans screamed along to nearly every lyric.

They also just released their new “SOS” Remixes EP, adding more buzz to an already electric performance. At this point, they’re easily Australia’s second-best metalcore export — right behind Parkway Drive.

Fit For a King – A Veteran Metalcore Force That Still Dominates

Closing out the night, Fit For a King proved why they’ve remained a driving force in metalcore since forming in 2007. The band delivered an incredible show, with the bassist repeatedly launching spin kicks in the air and the crowd singing every lyric at full volume.

They’ve been to Montreal many times, and even though the vocalist accidentally called the crowd “Quebec City,” the fans laughed it off and kept the energy high. Their tight performance, emotional choruses, and commanding presence showed exactly why they continue to lead the genre after nearly two decades.
