Ottawa Bluesfest 2026 Day 8 began with a little rain, but that certainly was not going to slow anyone down. After an incredible week of music, the festival was entering its final stretch with several major performances still ahead. The weather may have been unpredictable, but the excitement across LeBreton Flats never faded.

Our team was ready from the moment the gates opened. Rain jackets were on, cameras were covered, and we were excited to capture another outstanding day while showing just how special Ottawa Bluesfest continues to be.

Kasador Keeps the Rain From Winning

Kasador proved that a little rain was never going to stop people from having a great time. Opening the LeBreton Stage beneath the tent, they gave festival goers the perfect excuse to stay dry while still enjoying an outstanding performance.

The lead singer wore a constant smile that made it obvious they were loving every second on stage. That enthusiasm quickly spread throughout the crowd. Backed by exceptional musicianship and a polished sound, Kasador turned a rainy afternoon into part of the experience instead of an inconvenience.

Billie du Page Starts the Main Stage Strong

Billie du Page opened the RBC Main Stage with confidence, reminding Ottawa audiences why she continues to build momentum after performing on these same grounds during Canada Day celebrations last year. Supported by a tight three piece band, everything sounded polished from the very beginning.

Her vocals immediately stood out while the band played with impressive chemistry that kept every song sounding clean and powerful. It was exactly the kind of opening set needed to get the crowd excited for everything that was still to come on Ottawa Bluesfest 2026 Day 8.

Bridge Music Pushes Through the Weather

Bridge Music opened the Hard Rock Stage with a little extra challenge thanks to the rain. Unfortunately, the weather delayed things while they had to complete another sound check before getting underway.

Once everything was ready, they brought plenty of energy to the stage and clearly had a great time performing. Being one of the younger groups on the lineup, their passion was obvious as they continued finding their footing on a stage of this size. With plenty of friends and family in the audience, the support only added to the excitement.

Eadse Creates an Intimate Opening

Inside the theatre, Eadse opened her performance with a traditional drum before introducing the audience to her beautifully melodic vocals. The intimate seated setting suited her style perfectly.

She looked fantastic on stage and sounded equally impressive throughout the performance. It created a calm and memorable moment before the festival shifted back toward the larger outdoor stages.

Grace Bowers Shows the Future of Rock

At just 19 years old, Grace Bowers performed with the confidence and stage presence of a seasoned rock veteran. From the moment she stepped out, it was impossible not to watch every move she made.

Her guitar playing was nothing short of jaw dropping as she tore through solo after solo with remarkable precision. Blending classic rock energy with incredible technical ability, she delivered one of the standout performances of the day. If this is what Grace Bowers is doing at 19, the future looks incredibly bright.

Shaggy Brings the Party

The moment Shaggy stepped onto the stage, the atmosphere completely changed. As the rain finally cleared, thousands of fans packed into the festival grounds to sing along to hit after hit.

His charisma and effortless stage presence had everyone smiling, dancing and enjoying themselves from beginning to end. Shaggy once again proved why his music continues to connect generations and why he remains one of the most entertaining live performers around.

Aqyila Keeps the Momentum Rolling

Aqyila brought a fantastic combination of smooth vocals and feel good energy ahead of Mariah The Scientist’s evening performance. From the first song, her voice sounded every bit as impressive live as it does on record.

The crowd quickly responded by dancing throughout her set while her natural stage presence made every moment feel effortless. She created the perfect atmosphere to keep building excitement as the evening continued.

TJ Wheeler's Learning Tree Returns

Back inside the theatre, Bluesfest favourite TJ Wheeler returned once again. Fans always look forward to seeing TJ, and it is easy to understand why.

In classic TJ fashion, he spent time interacting with the audience while sharing the history behind the music he was performing and where it came from. Any true music fan should make time to sit beneath TJ’s learning tree at least once.

Here Comes The Mummies Steal the Night

Closing the LeBreton Stage, Here Comes The Mummies delivered one of the biggest surprises of the entire evening. Before they even reached the stage, the band marched through the crowd in true marching band fashion, catching nearly everyone off guard.

We had been told earlier in the day that this was a performance worth seeing, and that recommendation could not have been more accurate. Behind the fun gimmick was an incredibly seasoned group delivering outstanding funk, excellent musicianship and fantastic stage presence. This one definitely earned a place on our playlist.

Mariah The Scientist Shines

Closing the Hard Rock Stage, Mariah The Scientist delivered another stunning performance. Having seen her previously, we already knew we were in for something special.

She took the stage looking absolutely angelic while moving effortlessly across it with her soulful vocals and commanding presence. Competing against the Main Stage is never easy, but fans still showed up in force and left with an experience they will not soon forget.

Gwen Stefani Closes with the Hits

Although we were unable to photograph Gwen Stefani’s performance, we stayed to enjoy part of the show as fans. Sometimes it is nice to simply experience a performance without looking through a camera lens.

Gwen was outstanding from start to finish. She opened with Sweet Escape and never slowed down, delivering hit after hit with incredible energy. It felt like one giant greatest hits celebration and was another reminder of why she remains such an incredible live performer after all these years.

Festival Atmosphere

The weather threatened to make Day 8 difficult, but it quickly became just another part of the story. From sheltered stages filled with music to packed crowds celebrating once the rain cleared, the festival never lost its momentum. There was something memorable around every corner, whether it was discovering Here Comes The Mummies, watching Grace Bowers’ incredible guitar work, learning from TJ Wheeler inside the theatre, or simply enjoying artists like Shaggy, Mariah The Scientist and Gwen Stefani close out another unforgettable day.

Final Thoughts

As photographers, it can be disappointing when we cannot shoot some of the biggest headline performances. At the same time, it is refreshing to step back and simply enjoy the music as fans. Gwen Stefani was outstanding, Mariah The Scientist was every bit as captivating as expected, and Here Comes The Mummies ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the entire festival. Ottawa Bluesfest 2026 Day 8 reminded us that some of the best festival memories come from the performances you expected, along with the ones that completely catch you by surprise.
