The night started off with openers Lulu Simon and Zach Hood. With Zach’s country twang and Lulu’s soft vocals, Aidan’s set came quickly and naturally. Taking place at A&R Music Bar, the venue was perfect for Aidan’s intimate feel. Fan projects and traditions came together perfectly. Fans held slips of paper over their phone flashlights during his acoustic set, creating a colorful glow over the venue. And Aidan even chose a “bride” from the crowd to be his situationship for the evening, singing “are we in love yet?” to her. Every song chosen for the setlist felt so perfect for the evening. I was happy to see some oldies-but-goodies were sung, like “Ultraviolet” and “Bloom.” Then there were new songs like “weak end” and “are you curious?” that are my personal favorites off the album.
Overall, the show was intimate, heartfelt, and full of energy. It perfectly showcased Aidan Bissett’s growth as an artist and I’m certain that he will sell out larger venues soon. If you’re looking for a new obsession or rockstar to fall in love with, definitely check out his music. There are still plenty of dates left on the shut up and love me tour and you can find tickets, here.
