Opening the night was Lulu Simon, who immediately set the tone with her dreamy pop sound. She started her set with “Something,” drawing the crowd in from the first note. A few songs in, she surprised everyone with a nostalgic cover of One Direction’s “Night Changes” — and the audience went wild for it. As much as I love hearing original music, there’s something uniquely special about a crowd collectively screaming the lyrics to a beloved classic. Between songs, Lulu shared the stories behind her writing — whether it was about a toxic relationship or a childhood pet, she made it easy to step into her shoes and feel the moments that inspired her songs.
