We Are Story Tellers

Alessia Cara In Vancouver

Alessia Cara in Vancouver was a night drenched in nostalgia and electric energy. The Ontario-born singer-songwriter brought the final stop of her Canadian leg of the Love & Hyperbole Tour to a nearly sold-out crowd at The Centre. The tour celebrates her latest project, Love & Hyperbole, which was released this past Valentine’s Day. The album is a heartfelt, genre-blending exploration of growth, emotion, and the seamless marriage of R&B and pop.

Before diving into the music, I want to take a moment to gush over the venue. The Centre for Performing Arts is a megachurch, by day, that transforms into a dazzling concert hall for night. With sweeping staircases leading to mirror-lined walls and grand doors that felt like a portal to Narnia, it was truly a sight to behold. The acoustics are unreal. Every note floated like velvet through the air, and the sound was so clean it made ear plugs feel optional. Glancing up to the balcony, it was already packed with bright-eyed fans who made it clear the night would be something special. To kick off the magic were two Canadian stars, Jon Vinyl and Alicia Moffet.

Jon Vinyl Makes Vancouver Remember The Name

Toronto’s Jon Vinyl set the tone for the evening with moody, soulful vibes. Whether by technical hiccup or intentional mystery, his first track was performed in near-complete darkness, just a faint blue glow revealing his silhouette. But even in the shadows, his vocals shone. As the lights warmed up with the second song, so did the energy. With Juno nominations and millions of Spotify streams under his belt, Jon’s star power was on full display, and Vancouver felt it. The room grooved, swayed, and surrendered to the rhythm. By the end of his set, the crowd wasn’t just impressed, they were converted. But Jon wasn’t the only rising Canadian star about to leave their mark… For the next 25 minutes, Jon commanded the stage with his signature sound and undeniable charisma.

From The Next Star to Stardom: Alicia Moffet Debuts In Vancouver

Next up was Montreal’s Alicia Moffet, and let me tell you, she did not come to play. Longtime fans might remember her as the season six winner of YTV’s The Next Star (basically American Idol for kids), but Alicia has long outgrown the “child star” label. Now with two albums under her belt, and another on the way, she’s fully arrived. From the moment she stepped onstage, Alicia was magnetic. The crowd instantly lit up, with fans rushing the pit to sing, dance, and film every second. Her set blurred the line between opener and headliner, it was pure high energy, heartfelt moments, and absolute stage command. Between bursts of crowd interaction and intimate backstories, Alicia had us all wrapped around her finger. With her upcoming album No, I’m Not Crying on the horizon, new tracks like “Lay Your Light” and “Choke” had the crowd eating out of the palm of her hand. By the end, Vancouver was officially hooked. But the night was far from over, it was time for Alessia Cara In Vancouver.

Alessia Brings an Arsenal of Bangers

No time was wasted, Alessia Cara In Vancouver launched with  “Dead Man,” a fiery track that had The Centre practically levitating. For the next hour and 45 minutes, she took us on a whirlwind ride through 26 tracks, yes, 26! From “Stay” to “Here” to “Rooting For You,” it was an endless stream of anthems that had the crowd moving nonstop. I’ll admit, going in I had doubts. I wasn’t sure she had enough hits to carry a full-length show. Turns out, I was happily wrong. Every song hit, and I was so into it I woke up the next day with neck pain (or maybe that’s just aging catching up). Either way, it was worth it. The true highlight? Alessia’s unrelenting energy. Sprinting across the stage, hyping the audience, belting out every note, she made it all look effortless. Scanning the crowd, it was clear she was singing to a sea of superfans, many of whom knew every lyric, every beat drop. For 105 minutes, we were all on cloud nine, our worries temporarily erased by her voice.

With the tour being a celebration of Love & Hyperbole, most of the night naturally centered around tracks from the album. And honestly? They did not disappoint. Standouts like “Clearly,” “Slow Motion,” and “Nighttime Thing” lit up the room, each one showcasing Alessia’s lyrical vulnerability and vocal finesse. Meanwhile, deeper cuts like “Drive” and “Subside” pulled us into her R&B roots, rich with groove, emotion, and late-night soul. Every track felt intentional, polished yet raw. Whether you came as a longtime fan or a curious newcomer, it was impossible to ignore just how far Alessia has come as an artist.

In Closing

What. A. Night. Alessia Cara In Vancouver closed out with a thunderous performance of her breakout hit “Here,” and Vancouver made sure she felt the love. The roar of the crowd echoed through every corner of the venue, pure unfiltered euphoria. As the final note rang out, there was a magical split-second of silence, like the entire room held its breath before erupting into cheers loud enough to raise the roof. To say the night was a success would be an understatement. As I drove home with Love & Hyperbole blasting through my speakers, it hit me. This album is front-to-back fire! Not a single skip. It’s a confident leap forward from the Know-It-All days. More grown, more grounded, yet still unmistakably Alessia. If there’s one takeaway from the night, it’s this, go listen to Love & Hyperbole! It’s a pop-R&B masterclass. It hooks, It’s heartfelt, and most importantly, endlessly replayable. These tracks don’t just stick, they live in your head for days. And honestly? You won’t want them to.
