We Are Story Tellers
On dark Tuesday night, metalcore fans strolled into Universal’s City Walk as early as they could to line up at the Hard Rock for the Japanese metal band BABYMETAL. BABYMETAL has brought along the bimbocore icon Scene Queen on the North American branch of their World Tour.
Scene Queen opened up the show with “Pink Push-Up Bra,” setting up the crowd for the high energy night that awaited them. Although their set was short, Scene Queen made sure to use her voice and time on the stage to speak up against abusers in the scene and unfavorable political figures.
The whole crowd became rowdy the minute the lights went out and they anticipated BABYMETAL’s introduction to the stage. They began their set with “BABYMETAL DEATH,” the opening track on their 2015 self-titled album, which may lack in a variety of lyrics, but was sonically the perfect opening for this show. Throughout the show the energy never wavered especially during their hits such as “Megitsune,” “RATATATA,” “Gimme Chocolate!!,” and “Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!” You could tell BABYMETAL puts as much effort into their visual performance as they do their music; their light show, screen graphics, crowd interaction, outfits, and synchronized dancing made the show so fun and interactive.
