Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in Montréal Brings Moody Magic to Beanfield Theatre

A night of psychedelic textures and alt-rock mastery

Montreal’s Beanfield Theatre was awash in shadow and sound on a night where alternative rock reigned supreme.

Headlined by San Francisco’s iconic trio Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the evening also featured a captivating set by the UK’s Humanist, setting the tone for a show that blended atmosphere, technical prowess, and raw emotional power.

Humanist: Psychedelic Vibes and Prog Rock Echoes

Opening the night was Humanist, an English alternative rock band that set the stage with deep, moody lighting and a sonic palette reminiscent of ’80s progressive rock. The atmosphere in the room took on a hypnotic energy, elevated by shimmering delays and ambient feedback.

Guitarist Rob Marshall impressed with his seamless use of amplifier feedback, blending it naturally into the reverb-drenched textures of each track. It wasn’t just a performance — it was an immersive experience, pulling the audience into a dreamlike state with every riff.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: Alt-Rock Legends Return with Heart

Taking the stage with quiet intensity, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club kicked off their set with a solo acoustic number by Peter Hayes, immediately drawing the crowd in. Known for their chilled-out but technically rich alt-rock, the band gradually amped up the energy as the night unfolded. Their signature backlit stage setup created dramatic silhouettes, perfectly matching their dark, driving sound.

As the tempo increased, so did the excitement in the room.

The band’s use of shakers, tambourines, and even harmonicas added layers of texture that kept the audience engaged. Fans shouted their thanks between songs — a testament to BRMC’s dedicated following and the strong connection they’ve built over the years.
