Bluesfest 2023 Day 3
Bluesfest 2023 Day 3 was surrounded by the mega hype of the former lead singer of the notoriously famous classic rock band Led Zeppelin Robert Plant! Joining him on stage is country superstar Alison Krauss!
Barney Danson Theatre
Headlining the Barney Danson Stage are Aspects, if you have not heard of them before they Ottawa’s own hip-hop group. With having many collaborations with world renowned artist such as Ghost Face Killa of the Wu-Tang- Clang, Aspects brings his soul and lets it all play out for us to feel it.
Best part of his set, he brings out his 13 year old daughter Allie Rose to sing a bunch of songs together and WOW is all we can say! The talent absolutely run in the family.
River Stage
On the River Stage hailing all the way from Austin Texas is a Three piece blues and horn band The Texas Horns. They bring a very soulful and incredible live performance with their sax and trumpets. These guys are a lot of fun to watch, coming out with all smiles they get right into playing. With big grins on their faces, you can see they are in the mood to jam! The Texas Horns bring the fun and emotion that makes you get up and feel the music.
RBC Stage
First on the RBC Stage is Steven Taetz. Taetz brings a little bit of everything to his music style with some rock, blues, jazz, and even pop. Steven rocked the stage and got the crowd up and moving and ready for the next band!
Up next is Canadian Folk Rock-Alternative band, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings Ft Daniel Lanois and Suzie Vinnick.
Blackie and The Rodeo Kings practically came running out, grabbed their instruments, and started to play with what seemed like a lot of eagerness. From start to finish these guys put on one hell of a show!
Headlining the Main stage the Act everyone has been waiting for all day, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss! The lights dim down and both Robert and Alison slowly make their way in front of the center stage and then started the night off with “Rich Women”. In 2007 Robert and Alison teamed up and recorded an album together called “Raising Sand” and tonight they rocked the RBC stage with songs from that album! With a special treat for all those Led Zeppelin fans, both Robert and Alison sang a classic Led Zeppelin tune “Rock and Roll”
These two have such high energy and lots of emotion on stage that transfers to the fans who give it right back. It was only day 3 of the festivals but it seems like every night is getting better and better!
In Closing
Bluesfest 2023 Day 3 coming to an end the excitement and buzzing filling the air at Lebreton Flats with festival goers. That is just the tip of the iceberg for what is still to come the rest of the festival! Up first we can Canadian duo Tegan and Sarah, the highly anticipated return to Bluesfest, Alternative rock band Death Cab For A Cutie, and Newfoundland’s own Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea.
