Bluesfest 2024 Day 10, The last day, has finally come, although it seems like it just started but that is what happens when you are having fun! Closing out the festival is Legendary rapper Nas on the RBC stage and all the way from the United Kingdom closing out the River stage is Ben Howard and did these guys finish the fest off with a bang!
Opening the night on the RBC Stage we have one of Ottawa’s local acts Training Season. Just coming off a tour over seas in Japan these guys came out with a high burst of energy.
Not even 1 minute on stage they are off the stage and into the crowd. Working their way through the crowd of photographers they are up on the barricades hyping up the crowd. Training Season was a great way to start the day on the main stage, with a super high level of energy they really set it off!
Opening the night off on the River Stage was French Canadian singer Genevieve Racette. You may remember her from last year when she serenaded the crowd at City Folk Fest. Today was no different! With her absolutely stunning voice she can soothe you with her warm melodies and captivates you with her grace on stage. Genevieve is always so amazing to watch!
Up next is one of Ottawa’s very own Fanclub Wallet. They were simply so much to watch, nothing but big smiles and a little bit of quirkiness they look like they are having the times of their lives on stage. With a great crowd in front holding up signs to show their love, it is easy to see why they are loved so much! Fanclub Wallet is a band you don’t want to miss out on, they bring such great energy to their performance and we just love it.
Up next is Canadian Hip-Hop rap group Down With Webster. After a very long hiatus, they are risen and were absolutely fired up to back on stage. For me it has been 15 years since I have last seen them and knowing they high energy they bring to their shows you just knew it was going to be insane. And insane is what they brought, wasting no time lead singers Bucky and Cam on on stage and running all over, with excitement in their eyes you can see just how hyped they were to be back on stage.
The crowd was also equally excited, with the guys playing all their hits and more the crowd could not get enough. It was great to see Down With Webster again, they are that fun party band with bangers you hang out and jam to. They have definitely hyped the crowd up for Nas to hit the stage.
Closing out the night on the River Stage was Ben Howard, coming all the way from the United Kingdom Howard bring his soulful guitar playing skill with him. He was just incredible, they was you can feel the words coming out of his mouth and the raw emotion he has and puts into his music is outstanding.
With a very packed crowd in front of him it is easy to see why and how he has won over the hearts of so many, he is such a phenomenal performer and once he started playing you couldn’t take your eyes off him once.
We finally made it the end of the night and closing out the 2024 festival is legendary rapper Nas. If you are unfamiliar with him Nas is an East Coast rapper hailing from New York and notably hit song off his 1994 album Illmatic New York State of Mine. Nas brings that 1990’s Hip-Hop swag on stage, his flow is just too smooth and you can see why he is so great at what he does.
Dressed in all black but with the bling shining off his neck and watch Nas was shining bright tonight. With nothing but big smiles all night, you can see how much music means to him and the love he gives to the crowd is truly special. Nas may take you back in nostalgia but he also makes sure you are living in the moment and are having the time of your life.It was great to see another legend work his craft and show why he is one of the best to ever to do it.
It was another amazing year at the Ottawa Bluesfest, it truly was a great celebration of the 30 years this festival has been taking place. From the early days at City Hall to now at Lebreton, the memories had will stay with us forever.
Thank you again for having us out we had such an amazing time covering all the wonderful and spectacular bands and artists. We can hardly wait to get back next summer!
