Kicking off the night at the River Stage was the immensely talented local artist Abby Stewart. Backed by a full band, she delivered a powerful performance that had the crowd moving from the very beginning. Opening with a cover of Carrie Underwood’s “Good Girl,” Abby’s strong vocals and engaging stage presence set the tone for an incredible evening.
Grae, making her first appearance in Ottawa, took the stage at the RBC stage. Her sound, reminiscent of Lana Del Rey, captivated the audience with its haunting melodies and introspective lyrics. The addition of dancers elevated the show, creating a visually stunning and captivating performance. Notably, a talented pole dancer mesmerized the crowd with her graceful acrobatics, further enhancing the overall experience. Grae’s rendition of Like A Prayer and the performance of a new song added a fresh and memorable element to her set.
Ludacris took the spotlight, and the crowd swelled to near immobility as fans of all ages eagerly anticipated his performance. Engaging with his fans, Ludacris paused in the middle of songs to allow the crowd to sing back to him, creating a dynamic and interactive experience. Arms waved back and forth as attendees captured their favorite moments on their phones. Ludacris played through all of his biggest hits, taking the audience on a nostalgic journey through his illustrious career. A standout moment was when the DJ took over, delivering an outstanding mashup that sent the sold-out crowd into a frenzy giving Luda time to catch his breath and keep the party going.
The highly anticipated act of the night, Pitbull, did not disappoint. The crowd, donning bald caps, sunglasses, and white button-downs, eagerly awaited his arrival. As the party started with “Don’t Stop the Party,” the stage was filled with energetic dancers, setting the tone for a high-energy performance. Despite our limited access, the shoulder-to-shoulder crowd was captivated by Pitbull’s charismatic stage presence and I was right in the middle.
