We Are Story Tellers
Intro In Victoria, once the nice weather finally arrives, its hard to get people to stay inside, ESEPCIALLY the first few nice days after the long rainy season. But on April 21st, Bush had the Save On Memorial Centre packed, and eagerly awaiting to sing along to their favorite songs! This was the “LOADED: Greatest Hits Tour” and Bush brought some pretty awesome bands with them! Opening up for rock legends like Bush, on their greatest hits tour, means you probably have some hits as well, and in the case of “Filter” and “Rival Sons”, they sure did!
As the fans started to filter in through the doors, and into the arena, an electric atmoshere had started building, and “Filter” could feel this, and were ready to capitilize on it ! As fast as the room went dark, the room was met with the heavily distorted guitar and drum work that not only got the crowds blood pumping, but their heads banging as well! With a powerful voice that stood out no matter what semi- psychedelic, almost rave like foundation the band was paving for him, this performance was bound to be one that will stick with me, and Im sure many others !
Rival sons rivaled some technical difficulties at the beginning, but quickly got to it with making up lost time. The performance quickly began, and tension was broken immediately with electrifyingly piercing vocals, and fast drums accompanied with squealing guitar licks. With so much power on display, it truly got the crowd ready for the nights headliner, as RS really knows how to get a crowd worked up! With the perfect mix of fast tracks and some enriched emotion-tickling lows creating a soundscape like atmosphere, much like you would hear in action movies!
When you name a tour “LOADED: The Greatest Hits,” the expectations are clear: fans are there to hear the hits that shaped the band’s iconic career. Bush didn’t just meet those expectations; they exceeded them in every way possible. From the first note, it was clear that this show was designed to please everyone. Chart-topping hits, new material, and even a surprise crowd appearance from Gavin himself turned the night into something unforgettable. The setlist was a masterclass in keeping the energy high and the audience engaged, making sure no one left disappointed.
The show kicked off with “Everything Zen,” setting the tone for what was to come—straightforward, powerful, and charged with nostalgia. And then it was time for “Machine Head,” which erupted into an anthem the crowd knew all too well. The arena came alive, with fans chanting every word, their collective energy feeding off the band’s electric performance. From there, Bush served up hit after hit. They delivered a theatrical version of “Swallow,” adding a unique twist that made it feel fresh, and then slowed things down with a heartfelt solo rendition of “Glycerin,” a crowd favorite that never loses its emotional weight. The band even treated the crowd to their latest release, “60 Ways To Forget People,” which had just dropped days before the show, proving that Bush is as committed to keeping their sound fresh as they are to their roots.
The setlist wasn’t just a collection of songs—it was a journey through their most iconic moments, carefully curated and timed to perfection. Each song flowed seamlessly into the next, creating a live experience that felt both nostalgic and exciting.
As the night progressed, it became clear that Bush was not just performing for their fans—they were engaging with them. The moment “Comedown” came to a close, the amps fell silent, and the arena, still buzzing from the raw energy, rose to its feet. The band stood tall, holding their instruments above their heads in a show of solidarity with the crowd. It was a moment of mutual respect, where fans and performers alike shared in the emotional experience of the night. The applause was deafening, but it wasn’t just for the music—it was for the memories, the connection, and the undeniable power of live rock & roll.
Some fans walked away with hugs, high-fives, or a guitar pick, while everyone left with something far more lasting: a piece of Bush in their hearts. The “LOADED: The Greatest Hits” tour is shaping up to be one of those legendary tours that fans will talk about for years to come. This show in Victoria, B.C., was just the beginning, and if it was any indication, this tour is bound to be a hit from start to finish.
