Chayce Beckham in Montréal for his "Bad For Me" Tour

Beanfield Theatre in Montréal had a different vibe on Thursday night as the city’s cowboys and cowgirls gathered for another incredible country show. This time, the spotlight was on Season 19 “American Idol” winner Chayce Beckham, who brought his “Bad For Me” Tour to town. Alongside him was rising Irish artist Gareth, making for an unforgettable evening of live music.

Gareth: Making Ireland proud

I was especially excited to see Gareth perform, having followed him for about a year since discovering him on TikTok. He gained significant attention with his cover of “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan, a song that helped launch his career. In fact, before I even knew it was a cover, I assumed it was his original—and I still prefer his version over the original!

During his set, Gareth performed several covers before transitioning into his own music. He shared with the audience that he only began writing his own songs early last year, making it all the more impressive that he is already touring with one of America’s fastest-rising country stars.

One of the most touching moments of his performance was when he spoke about his recent move to Nashville to pursue music full-time. He admitted that the hardest part has been missing his family, especially his mother. This sentiment led into a heartfelt song he wrote for her last June.

As expected, Gareth performed his now-famous version of “Stick Season,” explaining how it changed his life. The crowd sang along passionately, creating a special moment of unity. Accompanied by an electric guitarist who kept the rhythm flowing, Gareth delivered a performance worth waiting for. He is set to embark on his own tour across the UK and parts of Europe soon—a well-deserved next step in his career.

Chayce Beckham: American Idol's country star

The stage was set to resemble a rustic barn, the kind where you’d imagine drinking Tennessee whiskey with friends while strumming a guitar. As Chayce Beckham stepped onto the stage, the crowd erupted in cheers, eager to sing along to his heartfelt lyrics.

I had the chance to chat with some dedicated fans in the front row, and a few had even traveled all the way from Massachusetts just to see him perform live. That kind of devotion speaks volumes about Chayce’s growing influence in the country music scene.

His setlist was packed with energy and emotion, keeping the audience engaged throughout the night. He wrapped up his performance with his chart-topping hit “23,” leaving the crowd on a high note.

If his current trajectory continues, I have no doubt that in the next few years, we’ll see Chayce Beckham headlining the MainStage at Lasso Country Music Festival here in Montréal. He’s a star in the making, and this show proved exactly why!
