We Are Story Tellers
After 150+ shows this year, Conner Smith wrapped up his “Storyteller” tour in Montreal. Featuring another young talent, Zach John King, both performances captivated a packed room of fans sporting cowboy boots and hats.
The night kicked off with Georgia native Zach John King, who brought electrifying energy to the stage after celebrating a win by his home state football team. Zach expressed his love for Montréal and Canada, mentioning that he had tried Quebec’s signature dish, poutine, earlier in the day—which he thoroughly enjoyed. During his set, Zach performed several songs, even changing the area code in one of his lyrics to Montreal’s “514,” which had the crowd enthusiastically singing along with the solo country star. His performance was a fantastic opening act, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of him in the future.
Conner Smith has risen to prominence among the younger generation in recent years, thanks in part to his viral hit “I Hate Alabama” on TikTok, which catapulted him to new heights. Born and raised in Nashville, Conner is no stranger to the spotlight of the country music scene. The energetic crowd erupted with cheers as he took the stage, already strumming his guitar.
Throughout the night, Conner played many of his most popular songs, engaging with the audience from start to finish. At one point, he even grabbed a fan’s phone to record a personal video, delighting the crowd. Conner expressed his admiration for Montréal, especially its French accent, further endearing himself to the local fans.
The show featured memorable moments, such as Conner jumping into the crowd to perform Luke Bryan’s “Country Girl (Shake It for Me)” and covering “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)” with members of his team taking turns singing the lyrics. The entire night felt like a high-energy party, and the audience couldn’t get enough—including one fan who tossed her bra on stage toward the young country star.
Overall, it was an incredible evening filled with country music and dancing. The packed Beanfield Theatre thoroughly enjoyed seeing this rising star in action. Here’s hoping Conner Smith returns to Montréal soon, perhaps for the Lasso Music Festival!
