We Are Story Tellers

CPMF 2024 - Day 1

CPMF 2024 – Day 1: Rock and Roll on The Rock.

Mighty Quinton Concerts brings Churchill Park Music Festival back to St. John’s, Newfoundland with a killer line up spanning over five days between Aug 9/10/16/17/18.

Nick Earle & The Reckless Hearts

Nick Earle and the Reckless Hearts open Churchill Park Music Festival with electrifying energy! Clare Follet and Dan George held down a tight rhythm section while Andrew Rodgers played some beautiful and melodic guitar solos. Nick’s guitar work is so free but clean and full of soul with a blues-country-rock, tone. The band’s local Newfoundland roots shine through, resonating with the hometown crowd. Playing crowd favourites like “Born To Lose”, “Queen of the Night” and the classic “Downtown” just for the by’s.

We may or may not have seen his mom crying in the crowd… as she should be, honestly. Wholesome.

James Barker Band

The James Barker Band takes the stage next, bringing out their signature blend of country and rock. Getting the crowd singing along to songs like “Chills”, “Meet Your Momma” and “Lawn Chair Lazy”; the stage presence is brought by everyone in this band.

They got the audience on their feet and prepared them for the energy they needed to keep going for the next acts!

Arkells

The energy of the park increased immensely as Arkells came out onto the stage. Their set is full of crowd-pleasers, with hits like “Leather Jacket” and “People’s Champ” turning the entire audience into a sing-along chorus. Lead singer Max Kerman’s knows how to interact with the crowd, bringing everyone into the experience and excitement of their set. Arkells prove why they are amongst the top Canadian live acts, with a trumpet section coming out onto stage that gets the crowd dancing.

It also wouldn’t be an Arkells show if Max wasn’t directly singling out his die hard fans by name mid song throughout the night, now talk about the People’s Champ.

Nickelback

Headlining the night, Nickelback delivers a powerhouse performance packed with pyro! They are no stranger to engagement as they invited Max Kerman from Arkells out to sing “Hero”, and later a fan from the crowd was brought up to sing “Rockstar”. Chad Kroeger’s gritty vocals, coupled with the band’s PERFECT hard-hitting rock sound, create an exhilarating atmosphere.

With every song the crowd cheered for more and I think its safe to say they’ll be back.
