We Are Story Tellers

CPMF 2024 - Day 3

CPMF 2024 – Day 3: Loud and Proud

Mighty Quinton Concerts brings Churchill Park Music Festival back to St. John’s, Newfoundland with a killer line up spanning over five days between Aug 9/10/16/17/18.

Mallory Johnson

Mallory Johnson opens the third night with a heartfelt country set that showcases her soulful vocals and emotive songwriting, playing tunes like “Surprise Party”, “Married”, and a performance that went so hard during “Party Dress” Mallory broke her tambourine! Her connection to Newfoundland shines through, and the crowd responds warmly to her relatable lyrics and genuine stage presence. Her performance is a perfect mix of traditional country sound and modern glam, making her a great start to the night.

Mallory’s band also includes 3/4 members of Nick Earle and The Reckless Hearts so this was the second time during this festival that the bys get some stage time!

Lindsay Ell

Lindsay Ell pulls double duty today, playing her own set before taking the stage with Shania. As she takes the stage with her mixture of country and rock sound, the crowd engages quickly. Her impressive guitar skills and strong vocals are on full display, and she effortlessly shifts between heartfelt ballads and upbeat tracks. Ell’s interaction with the crowd and fans is infectious and changed the whole energy of the park, making her set both powerful and personal.

She leaves the audience energized and wanting more.

Alan Doyle

Alan Doyle, a Newfoundland icon, brings a touch of Newfoundland magic to the festival with his blend of folk, rock, and traditional music. His set is filled with stories and songs that celebrate Newfoundland culture, and the crowd is fully engaged. The fans show their love with signs and bracelets. Some who have attended 15+ shows, the fans love Alan! Doyle’s presence and warmth makes the audience feel like they are home.

The balance of his set is a blend of heartfelt moments, nostalgia and straight newfie energy.

Shania Twain

It’s finally time for our queen of the night, Shania Twain, with a show stopping performance! From the moment she steps on stage, she owns the night with hits like “Don’t Be Stupid(You Know I Love You)”, “Up!”, “I’m Gonna Getcha Good”, and “That Don’t Impress Me Much.” Shania’s vocals are powerful, and her stage presence is so performative, she is going to ROCK her upcoming Vegas residency after this festival run. Shania’s band of six amazingly talented humans are so great at their jobs, Drummer Tiff Lamson is the human version of Animal from the Muppets and she should 100% be in a neck brace from the amount of head banging she puts into her performance. Back up vocalists/dancer/violinists Leo Lam, Paul Michael Clark, and Chandra put their all into their craft and smile while doing it NON STOP. Brent Barcus and Lindsay Ell tag team the sickest guitar riffs throughout the set while back up singing.

These people are truly the sweetest and most talented group of people.
