We Are Story Tellers
Day 2 – Ottawa Bluesfest 2022 was a great day for music with some stand-out acts including Tash Sultana and closing out with Jack Johnson. There was lots of new music for me which made things that much more fun.
Mack and Ben opened the River stage with an intimate group hanging out the catch some tunes. I wasn’t familiar with them but I found out they are also local which was cool. Mack was rocking the stage with sass and having a great time on stage. These guys have a really cool sound it was awesome getting to see some new artists.
Tash Sultana was a fav for me personally. I heard so many good things and was originally not familiar with the music so it was a must-see. Tash wowed the crowd building a track from the group up with all sorts of sounds and loops. I swear every time you looked up there was a new instrument being used and you could see the fun Tash was having on the stage. New fan for sure.
The New Pornographers were interesting to check out. I remember them from the mid-2000 so it was cool to see them live. They have a great sound still for being seasoned vets in the industry. The crowd was vibing with them the whole time and filled up really nicely for the middle set of the festival.
Jeremy Dutcher has such a unique setup on stage with a grand piano front and center. Another new one for me but I was drawn in by his powerful vocal talent. You cant help but enjoy the blending of the Tenor sounds with the rest of the band and the First nation inspiration in the music.
Jack Johnson closing out the night was packed! He had a really stripped-down but interesting stage kit with his lighting and display. Jack was seeing jamming out in the back with Aspects and Nambi early on and just having a good time which translated to absolute enjoyment on stage. It was a great day for music for sure.
