daydreamers debut in NYC

UK alt-pop band daydreamers made their first trip to the US to perform their NYC debut show at Bowery Electric. In 2024, daydreamers released their self-titled EP featuring their acclaimed track “Call Me Up”. Consisting of vocalist Riley, bassist Aurora, drummer Jay, and guitarist Marco, the band is set to release their debut album in 2026.

This Bowery Electric performance was a showcase with the band’s label Epic Records. I had a chance to chat with the group while we took some pre-show portraits in the venue and we spoke about the fact that they traveled to New York just for this show and they told me some things they’re looking forward to during their stay in the city. Writer, producer and lead vocalist Riley told me that the goal of the show was “to meet everyone, really” referring to the music label representatives attending the showcase. The band is based in the UK, but has representation here in the states, so this performance was a chance for the band to show Epic Records and others in the music industry who they are, in person, before the release of their debut album. 

While onstage, the group was interactive with the crowd, encouraging people to move toward the stage, and get involved in the performance. There were some minor technical difficulties at the start of the show, but Riley handled it gracefully, schmoozing with the audience through the delays. The singer jokingly told the room that the most helpful piece of information the group would like to take away from the night is a list of some solid food recommendations for their time in Manhattan. 

daydreamers has a chill, indie, bedroom pop kind of sound. “Call Me Up” from their 2024 EP has been on my playlist for a while, but I hadn’t heard any more of the group’s discography until now. Their most recent release, a single titled “Good Intentions”, is an upbeat track with a snare drum beat that’ll make you move. 

I’m excited for what’s to come for this group. They have a consistent vibe throughout their music that is calming, yet dance-inducing. While they finish up their album, I’ll be re-listening to their current releases. daydreamers is only getting started and I’d like to be there when they return to NYC.
