Death From Above 1979 Reignites the Physical World at Lee’s Palace
Death From Above 1979 played to a packed Lee’s Palace, blazing through the entirety of their 2014 album The Physical World. Supported by Toronto’s own punk trio Cult Crime, DFA1979 delivered a hometown show to remember.
A Start-to-Finish Surge Through The Physical World
As promised, the night’s mission was to perform The Physical World from start to finish—an electrifying experience for both longtime fans and newcomers. In perfect album order, the band powered through each track, with the crowd erupting for the standout singles “Trainwreck 1979,” “Government Trash,” and “Virgins.”
Rewinding to Early Chaos
When the album playthrough was wrapped, the band took a familiar trip back in time hopping right into the thumping Little Girl and wrapping up the main set with Romantic Rights; a personal favourite of mine and the first song I ever heard by the band back in 2003.
Still Raw, Still Real
Though DFA1979 has released plenty of material since You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine and The Physical World, the true magic of their live shows lies in the pure, unfiltered joy they create. It’s nostalgia, chaos, and catharsis—fueled by a band that continues to make rock feel honest and alive.
