We Are Story Tellers

Deicide in Montreal

Saturday night at Studio TD in Montreal brought the Banished By Sin Tour, with legendary band Deicide making a triumphant return to the city. The venue was packed with devoted metalheads, ready for an evening of blistering performances.

Cloak

A dark red light bathed the stage as Atlanta’s gothic black metal band Cloak opened the night. The seasoned musicians delivered a powerful set, blending searing guitar riffs with guttural vocals. Their unique mix of black metal and hard rock set the perfect tone, warming up the headbanging crowd for the heavier acts to come.

Inferi

Next up were Nashville’s Inferi, who brought an energetic performance to the stage. Praising Montreal for its consistent support, vocalist Stevie Bowser quickly connected with the crowd, even sparking the night’s first mosh pit. Though there were some technical difficulties with the vocal mix, Inferi’s performance left a strong impression, particularly with the debut of new material set for release on their upcoming 2025 album.

Krisium

Hailing from Brazil, technical death metal band Krisiun took the stage and unleashed an intense, unrelenting set. For a three-piece, their sound was incredibly full, featuring heavy bass, intricate guitar solos, and guttural vocals. The crowd, energized by the band’s Slayer-esque aggression, eagerly followed the vocalist’s call for a circle pit, turning the room into a frenzy. Krisiun ended their set with a blistering guitar solo, leaving the audience chanting for more, though the band did not return for an encore.

Deicide

Finally, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived as Deicide took the stage. The anticipation was palpable, and the band delivered, launching into a set filled with the deep, demonic growls of frontman Glen Benton, who seemed possessed as he commanded the stage. Since their formation in 1987, Deicide has carved out a legendary status in the death metal scene, despite some controversial moments in their history. Their expertly executed gutturals and intricate riffs were met with thunderous approval from the Montreal crowd, who chanted along throughout the night.

Closing the night

Deicide wrapped up their performance with fan favorite “Homage for Satan,” as the crowd erupted in cheers while the band exited the stage, leaving the audience wanting more. A true night of heavy music filled the ears of Montreals metal scene.
