We Are Story Tellers
Djo in Vancouver was a night fans won’t soon forget. Kicking off his Back On You tour stop with undeniable energy, Djo lit up the PNE Forum after overwhelming demand pushed the show from the Commodore Ballroom to a larger venue. Post Animal opened the night with a killer set, laying the foundation for what turned into an electrifying experience. Outside, fans wrapped around the building, some waiting for hours just to secure a spot at the front of the stage. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation – and when the music started, it was clear: every second of waiting was worth it.
Post Animal is accompanying Djo on his Back On You tour for the whole run, and for a good reason, simply put they’re amazing. Not only are they touring with Djo, but they have a great relationship with the singer, featuring him on their upcoming album IRON. He was also a part of Chicago’s Post Animal until 2019. Once they’re finished with the Back On You tour, Post Animal will be gearing up for their own tour that goes across Canada & the USA.
Post Animal has a great stage presence, and even though some people in the crowd may not have listened to them before, their set still resonated with people, for sure gathering them some new fans in the process. The 5 member band has such a unique sound that it’s hard to get it out of your head once the song is done, and with their new album coming out in July I have no doubt that they’re on the path to being a true mainstay in the music industry.
When the lights went down at the PNE Forum for Djo’s set the room was electric, you could genuinely feel the energy & anticipation in the room. As soon as Djo stepped out on stage the crowd roared, all this built up excitement finally had an outlet to plug into.
Since stepping out as a solo artist, Djo has released 3 albums — Twenty Twenty, Decide, and his latest album, The Crux. His setlist was elite, showcasing fan favourites from both Twenty Twenty & Decide, and playing new songs from The Crux. Despite The Crux coming out less than a week before this show, fans seemed to know every word, showing their dedication to Djo & his music. Djo shared the stage with the members of Post Animal during the whole set, they were all so effortlessly in sync with one another, demonstrating the very intricate relationship they all have with each other.
Djo in Vancouver’s show was really a pleasure to see, I flew all the way from Calgary for it and it was worth every single penny to get to see Djo live. The vocals are impeccable, there’s crowd interaction, and the set list has so much variety for fans of his music. If I could live this show all over again I absolutely would — get tickets to the Back On You tour if you still can! I can’t recommend it enough.
