Down With Webster return to Montréal for the first time in 10 years!

After making a huge return to the Canadian music scene earlier this year, the Down With Webster boys finally made their way back to Montréal after a 10-year hiatus from the bustling French city. They brought along Nova Scotia-born musician Sunsetto to kick off the night.

The Nova Scotia-born artist took the stage by storm. It was his first time performing in front of such a large crowd, and the packed Beanfield Theatre was the perfect venue for it. The audience embraced his chill hip-hop/pop vibe, reacting enthusiastically to the young artist. At one point, Sunsetto joked that the DWW boys might be downstairs asleep, prompting him to rally the crowd into making a huge noise to wake them up. The crowd’s roar was deafening.

Sunsetto delivered a solid 30-minute set, featuring songs from his new album The Sun, The Moon & The Big Machine, including the emotional track “There’s No Way.” It was fantastic to see an East Coast artist on such a big stage. The talent emerging from that region lately has been exceptional, and Sunsetto is a clear example. Fans can catch him on tour early next year with rapper SonReal.

I have to be honest: this was one of the most exciting concerts I’ve attended all year—as both a photographer and a concertgoer. From the very beginning, every band member radiated incredible energy, as if they hadn’t aged a day since Montréal last experienced their magic 10 years ago.

The crowd was a vibrant mix of older and younger fans, whether they were discovering the band for the first time or reliving their teenage years from 2011. The energy throughout the evening was electric.

While I did miss Marty’s iconic afro, having the band back together felt amazing. It brought me back to a pivotal time in my life—when they were just rising stars, and I was navigating the challenges of junior high in a new province. Hearing songs like “She’s Dope,” “Your Man,” and “One in a Million” was a nostalgic trip to a time of fresh beginnings.

I can’t wait for these guys to come back in full force in 2025 and show the world what else they can achieve. If last night’s show was any indication, fans are in for a real treat.
