Those who know me personally know I am more of an old school hip-hop fan. It came down the pipe that Fetty Wap was finally coming to town. I had to be there to see the show and experience just what the craze was about.
The Diamond Mine Agency brought the New Jersey native to town so he could set the stage on fire. He started his music career in 2013 and has killed it in the Trap world of hip-hop.
Fetty Wap is also famously known for having only 1 eye. No he didn’t get that one in and weird way or on the streets. He was born with glaucoma and unfortunately couldn’t save the one eye. His first single “Trap Queen” finally released in 2014 and has since gone on to hit the Platinum level. It over 130 million plays on SoundCloud.
Venue
Algonquin College is the venue for this show, and it seemed fitting to house what should be a large show. The Remy Boyz and Peter Jackson joined the tour as opening acts. They filed out the line up nicely with a quality set of artists.
Opening acts for Fetty Wap
Some of Ottawa’s locals got the nod to set the stage for the show. They had to make sure to get the crowd in the right frame of mind. Runaway Randy Freeman and BLikeBrett were on deck. Runaway Randy has a polished sound and knows how to play with the crowd. They had played the whole stage it was a great start. Up next, one of my favorite Ottawa locals BLikeBrett, always knows how to kill a stage. I enjoy every single time I see him perform. Brett has his own signature sound and knows how to interact with the crowd which in my books it key to be a good artist.
Peter Jackson + Chrissy Spratt
Up next hip-hop heavy weight Peter Jackson and he know how to lay it all out on stage. He brought along the absolutely beautiful Ottawa native Chrissy Spratt for a couple tracks they have together. The crowd absolutely ate it up. Peter has a signature sound and Chrissy has an angelic voice which makes the tracks they do together nothing short of amazing.
Fetty Wap
Fetty Wap takes the stage at the end of the night after some help setting things up by The Remy boyz. They had the fans going nuts the whole time. He played some of his signature tracks and the crowd ate it up, singing along and grooving the whole time.
End of the night Fetty was a little upset back stage. We found out
consequently someone close to him had been recently shot in the US. He seemed to be having a stressful time over that all.
We wish whoever got shot a speedy recovery and finally send good wishes.
Hopefully we will get to see Fetty back in Ottawa again.
