We Are Story Tellers

FINNEAS Night Two In Brooklyn

FINNEAS plays a second sold out show at the Brooklyn Paramount on February 23, 2025.

Bad Suns

Bad Suns kicked off the night with the track “Swimming in the Moonlight” off their album Disappear Here. The group consists of frontman Christo Bowman, bassist Gavin Bennett, and drummer Miles Morris. The band’s members are all from Los Angeles and were excited to be playing to the sold out crowd in NYC.

Before playing their recent January release, singer Bowman told the crowd he had an experiment that he had been trying on this tour, that it hadn’t worked the previous night, but tonight was going to be the night. He asked everyone to get out their phones and open up their streaming platforms. The goal was to get every person to play their new single at the exact same time. After hearing the cacophonous attempt, Bowman admitted that it sounded more like cicadas or a lawn sprinkler, but reassured the room that it would sound way better if they listened to it at home. This of course was the lead up into the group playing that very song, “Communicating”.

Bowman gave a shout out to the Bad Suns supporters in the audience, and thanked all the FINNEAS fans for giving the band a chance tonight. He expressed the trios excitement to be in Brooklyn and stated “New York I love you so fucking much, but I gotta be honest “Life Was Easier When I Only Cared About Me”, another clever segue into the next number on the setlist.

Bad Suns played a great opening set on night two of the For Cryin’ Out Loud tour. The performance was engaging and the music got the audience pumped up for the headliner. A great set by Bad Suns.

FINNEAS

FINNEAS performed his second of two sold-out shows in Brooklyn, NY on his For Cryin’ Out Loud tour last week. He took to the stage sporting a casual, vintage/grandpa core-esque sweater. Alone at the piano with a steaming cup of tea perched next to him, FINNEAS began his set with the song “Starfucker”, a ballad about a past unhealthy relationship.

The singer rose from his keys and donned a guitar while his band joined him onstage for the next number “Lotus Eater”. FINNEAS had instrumental support from Lucy Healey who he mentioned had been off writing her own album, but was thankfully back to play keys for him on this tour. Miles Morris, who drums for the opening band Bad Suns, joined the headlining set as well. FINNEAS’s music director Aaron Forbes, guitarists Ricky Gourmet and David George Marinelli also supported the singer on stage.

Before beginning to sing his track “Angel”, a song about his girlfriend Claudia Sulewski, FINNEAS said to the crowd, “If you were here last night, don’t tell anyone, just let them experience it”. Honestly, I was expecting something exciting to happen on stage considering this lead up, but nothing out of the ordinary seemed to happen other than the crowd raising their flashlights in synchronicity. Regardless of what the singer was referring to, the song and the crowd singing along, was beautiful.

For the performance of his 2021 collaboration with singer Ashe, FINNEAS invited his keyboardist Lucy to sing the song “Till Forever Falls Apart” with him. Lucy sang beautifully and handed the mic back after her verse so she could head back to her piano and FINNEAS could finish the song.

FINNEAS was sure to tell his fans that he loves New York and loves being here to perform for everyone. He told the audience that they should be sure to never take for granted that we live in a place like NY. He said he does that sometimes with Los Angeles, forgets to appreciate that he gets to live in such an iconic place filled with opportunity.

FINNEAS closed out the show with the tour’s title track  “For Cryin’ Out Loud” and the crowd was buzzing and screaming the words right along with him.
