First Listen - Safehouse - Kemi Kehoe, Ekoh, and Colorblind: An Emotional Reflection on the Tragic LA Wildfires
First Listen – Safehouse – Kemi Kehoe, Ekoh, and Colorblind have teamed up to release a new single “Safehouse.” The artists met each other nack in January after escaping the grueling Los Angeles. As the group was trying to process everything going on back home, they came together to write a song about how they were feeling.
The Artists Behind the Song
Keami Kehoe is an alternative pop-rock artist based in Los Angeles. She is known for her breakout hit “SLEEP WHEN I’M DEAD” from her 2024 album, REVIVED. Ekoh is a musician known for his genre-blending of rock, alternative, and hip-hop sounds. His rock/rap hybrid album Pressure came out last year, landing in the top 10 rock charts. Colorblind is a rock, pop, and hip-hop group originally from Austin, Texas. Brothers Travis and Tyler Moseley as well as Justin Page and Nicholas Asper make up the group. They are known for their self-titled debut EP which accumulated over 5 million streams.
Sound of Survival
“Safehouse” is an intense alternative rock song with hip-hop influences. It’s an emotional and vulnerable track that captures the grief and pain of surviving a life-threatening event. The song describes the situation as an apocalypse from which they are trying to run. Even as they flee the chaos, they don’t know if they are completely safe. The repeated line “tell me that we’re safe now” indicates their desperation for reassurance that everything will be okay. Toward the end of the track, the artists cry out for rain as they exclaim “it’s getting harder to breathe here.” Rainfall is their last hope to bring the burning to an end. However, there is nothing they can do except leave their home behind and watch it burn.
Music That Gives Back
First Listen – Safehouse – Kemi Kehoe, Ekoh, and Colorblind powerfully captures the emotional toll of escaping the fires, reflecting what so many are still processing. You can hear their true emotions through the intense instrumental and raw vocals. It encapsulates the overwhelming feeling of trying to seek refuge and safety amidst mayhem. In solidarity with those affected by the LA fires, all royalties from “Safehouse” will be donated to California wildlife recovery.
First Listen – Safehouse – Kemi Kehoe, Ekoh, and Colorblind is a wrap! Great new add to your list!
