We Are Story Tellers
Foster The People returned to Montreal with a spectacular show at MTELUS as part of their Paradise State of Mind tour. The night was a celebration of high-energy performances, crowd singalongs, and a reminder of why the band continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
Opening the night was Good Neighbours, a five-piece band from London. Fresh off their announcement for Osheaga 2025, they delivered an energetic and engaging set, quickly winning over the Montreal crowd. Their song Home was a clear highlight, and many in the audience even recognized a third track in their set. The band’s charisma shone through as they joked with the crowd, creating a welcoming and lively atmosphere. Their enthusiasm on stage was infectious—everyone seemed genuinely thrilled to be part of the night.
As the lights dimmed and a haze filled the venue, Foster The People emerged to a roar of applause. Frontman Mark Foster wasted no time, dancing across the stage and feeding off the crowd’s energy. From the first note, it was clear this wasn’t just a concert—it was a collective experience.
The setlist balanced new material with fan favorites. Songs like Helena Beat and Pseudologia Fantastica kept the momentum high, while Coming of Age struck a chord with the audience. Throughout the night, the crowd sang along to almost every song, creating an electric atmosphere.
Mark Foster took a moment to acknowledge how long it had been since they last played in Montreal, recalling their performance at Osheaga in 2017. The connection between the band and the audience was undeniable, making this return even more special.
As the main set wrapped up with Don’t Stop (Color on the Walls), the crowd wasn’t ready to say goodbye. The encore began with Sit Next to Me, a moment of pure euphoria as voices filled the venue. Then, of course, came Pumped Up Kicks—the song that propelled them to global fame. The entire room erupted, with everyone singing along to every word, a perfect way to close out an unforgettable night.
Foster The People’s performance at MTELUS was more than just a concert; it was a celebration of music, connection, and nostalgia. Mark Foster’s boundless energy, the band’s tight musicianship, and the crowd’s enthusiasm made for a night to remember. After such a long wait, Montreal proved to be more than ready to welcome them back—and hopefully, it won’t be another eight years before they return.
