We Are Story Tellers
Gallant in Vancouver was nothing short of a lucid dream—a breathtaking display of artistry. The 33-year-old Washington-born R&B powerhouse brought his ZINC Tour to the legendary Commodore Ballroom. The tour, a celebration of his highly anticipated third studio album, ZINC, was a testament to his evolution—melding soulful melodies, introspective lyricism, and an unshakable sense of creative freedom. The energy in the room was undeniable, each note pulling the audience deeper into his world. Setting the tone for the night was Montreal-born singer-songwriter Alicia Creti, whose raw emotion and powerhouse vocals laid the perfect foundation for an unforgettable evening.
This rising Canadian R&B/Pop sensation captivated Vancouver with a mesmerizing 7-track set, weaving together her journey of artistry and heartbreak. From the soul-stirring “Epiphany” to the raw vulnerability of “Strange,” “Bleeding Me Dry,” and “Self/Less,” every note held the crowd spellbound. Eyes were locked, smiles were exchanged, and the energy in the room was electric as Creti’s hauntingly beautiful vocals cut through the air. You didn’t just hear her pain—you felt it. As her set came to a close, she promised Vancouver she’d be back, a declaration that was met with thunderous applause.
As the lights dimmed at The Commodore Ballroom, a hush fell over the eager crowd. Then, with a surge of energy, “In A Nutshell.” pulsed through the speakers, sending a ripple of excitement across the room. Bathed in deep blue light, Gallant stepped onto the stage, his silhouette cutting through the haze. The first notes of his signature falsetto soared, effortlessly commanding the audience’s attention. The anticipation that had been building all night exploded into cheers as he leaned into the mic. It set the stage for an unforgettable night of soul, emotion, and electrifying performances.
Gallant had Vancouver in a chokehold with a mesmerizing 17-track setlist that took the crowd on an emotional rollercoaster. From the electrifying “Weight in Gold” to the hypnotic “Centigrade.” and the haunting “Siberia.”, every song was delivered with raw passion. At times frantic and electrifying, other times intimate and serene, the night pulsed with energy as Gallant poured his soul into every note.
Gallant In Vancouver stage setup was just as captivating—a three-piece live band (keyboard, drums, and rhythm guitar) provided the sonic backbone, while at the centre of it all sat a chair, flanked by a plant, a lamp, and a CD player, evoking a deeply personal, almost nostalgic atmosphere. A small yet striking detail in the set was a Nintendo DS. It added a layer of youthful reminiscence that made the space feel less like a concert stage and more like a glimpse into Gallant’s world—intimate, raw, and completely unforgettable.
Gallant in Vancouver was nothing short of a triumph. Closing the night was the ethereal “Lucid.”, leaving the crowd in absolute awe. As the final notes rang out, the Commodore Ballroom erupted into thunderous applause, ecstatic screams, and cheers so powerful they could be felt all the way downstairs. The night was pure magic—a performance so captivating it was impossible to take your eyes off him. Gallant doesn’t just sing; he makes you feel every lyric, and the emotion was written across the faces of every person in the room. With a set that seamlessly blended soulful grooves and raw vulnerability, there wasn’t a single moment that didn’t leave the crowd entranced. One thing is certain—everyone who witnessed this unforgettable night is already counting down the days until they can experience it all over again.
