IDLES Make a Triumphant Return to Montreal with English Teacher for Two Sold-Out Nights After an unforgettable set at Osheaga, IDLES returned to Montreal for back-to-back sold-out shows at MTelus. This time, the venue couldn’t contain the energy as the band, along with English Teacher, electrified the packed crowd for two incredible nights.
English Teacher
Hailing from Leeds, UK, English Teacher kicked off the evening with an impressive set, blending their unique pop-rock sound with energetic performance. The band quickly drew the crowd in, setting the tone for the night ahead. They even won over the Quebecois audience by joking about the local favorite, poutine, saying that “chips, gravy, and cheese is a normal thing to eat” where they’re from.
Their alternative edge added a fresh twist to the night, and for their first-ever performance in Montreal, English Teacher left a lasting impression—undoubtedly winning the crowd over.
IDLES
had heard from friends that this show would be something special—they were traveling from out of province just to be here. Not knowing exactly what to expect, I went in with an open mind. But by the end of the first three songs, while in the photo pit, I was blown away. The band’s performance was nothing short of electrifying. Joe Talbot commanded the stage with his powerful vocals, while guitarist Lee Kiernan took things to another level, launching himself into the crowd—guitar still plugged in—supported only by the hands of fans holding him up by his feet.
As always, guitarist Mark Bowen, sporting a dress, added his signature flair to the night.
With a massive 24-song setlist, including a surprise cover of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” IDLES delivered what was undoubtedly the show of the week for me—and for every concertgoer that Saturday night.
