We Are Story Tellers

Justice In Vancouver

Justice in Vancouver was a night of pure magic as the French electronic duo brought their much-anticipated Hyperdrama Tour to a nearly sold-out Pacific Coliseum. Marking their first return to the city in 12 years, the concert celebrated the release of their highly acclaimed album Hyperdrama. While there are countless words to describe the experience, the essence can be summed up as simply breathtaking. The visuals were a jaw-dropping spectacle of flashing lights and dynamic elements, perfectly complementing Justice’s electrifying sound that sent the crowd’s adrenaline surging. It was a night that will be etched in memory for years to come.

The venue buzzed with anticipation as fans filled the space, eager to immerse themselves in the iconic sound of Justice, a sound that has shaped the electronic music scene since 2007. When the doors finally opened, fans rushed to the merch stands and scrambled to secure their spots at the front of the pit, all vying for a close-up view of these musical legends. One striking detail before the concert began was the thick blanket of fog enveloping the room. While it created an almost blinding and somewhat amusing sight, I knew it would play a crucial role in enhancing the experience later in the night.

DJ Nick Bike

Vancouver resident and DJ Nick Bike was the perfect hype man, delivering a lively set filled with electronic classics that echoed the signature sounds of Justice. As the crowd erupted in cheers for the familiar tunes of Daft Punk, it became clear that everyone was primed and ready for the musical storm that was about to unfold.

Return of The Legends: Justice In Vancouver

From the moment the Coliseum’s music faded and the lights went dark, a thunderous wave of applause and electrifying cheers surged through the venue, reminiscent of an earth-shattering earthquake. With hearts racing, the crowd was ready for the legends to return. The stage lit up in a strobing display, each flash accompanied by pulsating sounds that built in intensity. This rhythmic crescendo quickly reached its peak, morphing into the iconic opening notes of “Genesis” and heralding the powerful reveal of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay.

The music abruptly cuts out as the duo stands poised to give Vancouver the night of their lives. A brightly lit cross, a signature of Justice, serves as the perfect backdrop, and screams erupt from every corner of the venue. As the palpable energy reaches a fever pitch, Justice launches into the show, picking up “Genesis” at the beat drop and sending the entire crowd into a euphoric frenzy.

Setlist & Highlights

The night was a vibrant mix of classics like “D.A.N.C.E,” “DVNO,” and “Phantom Pt. II,” seamlessly intertwined with the infectious tracks from Hyperdrama such as “Generator,” “Incognito,” “Mannequin Love,” and my personal favourite, “Neverender.” As a long-time fan of Justice, I can confidently say the setlist was perfection. There wasn’t a moment of pause during the roughly 90-minute performance, as the duo expertly balanced their classic hits with innovative mixing ideas, keeping the energy flowing throughout the entire show.

It would take a visionary to create the breathtaking lighting spectacle on display, and that visionary is Vincent Lérisson. The jaw-dropping array of strobes, lights, and reflections danced across the stage, constantly shifting and transforming, making it feel as if you were immersed in a futuristic sci-fi film. The light show was unlike anything I had ever witnessed, underscoring why the entire venue had become a smoke zone before the show began.

In Conclusion

Justice in Vancouver was one of the most extraordinary spectacles I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing this year. The otherworldly set design, combined with their masterful blend of sound, created an experience that had the crowd perfectly synchronized with every beat. The night concluded with a magnificent 10-track medley, seamlessly intertwining previously played songs in a grand finale that served as a fitting send-off. Justice proved once again that they are not just performers but true architects of electronic sound, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to be in attendance.

We hope to see Justice In Vancouver once again in hopefully less than 12 years. Until then, you can catch them as they continue their Hyperdrama tour, or find more information about them on their website here: https://justice.church/
