We Are Story Tellers
This past weekend in Montreal, the Lasso Country Music Festival took center stage. While I missed the first day due to personal reasons, I made sure to immerse myself in the incredible lineup on day two.
My festival journey began at the “Prairie” stage with Quebecois country artist Laurence St. Martin. Laurence kicked off the day with a lively set, energizing the crowd as they arrived at the festival grounds.
Next, I moved a few meters over to the “Lasso” stage to catch Dalton Dover from Georgia. His performance, full of Southern charm, quickly became one of my favorites of the day, keeping the audience engaged throughout.
I then dashed to the “Coca-Cola” stage to see Calgary’s Robert Adams, known as the “Dream Angel Cowboy.” Robert’s performance lived up to his moniker, offering a magical experience that showcased his unique talent.
I managed to catch the beginning of Alana Springsteen’s set, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Her upbeat tunes and original songs made for a delightful experience.
One of the performances I was most eagerly anticipating was the Grammy-nominated husband-and-wife duo, The War and Treaty. This Nashville-based country gospel pair has gained significant popularity in recent years. Their on-stage chemistry was palpable, and their recent collaboration with hip-hop-turned-country star Post Malone was a testament to their versatility.
I then returned to the Prairie stage to see Canadian artist Mackenzie Porter, who has recently received a staggering 22 CCMA nominations. Her set was a testament to her growing acclaim.
Next up was Alli Walker, a talented artist from PEI. Her performance was remarkable, complete with an electric bagpipe tribute to her roots. The lighting and sound quality added to the overall fantastic experience.
I headed back to the Lasso Stage to see Josh Ross, whose song “Trouble” has been on my playlist for a while. The young Canadian artist delivered a performance that truly resonated, demonstrating why his music touches hearts.
An exciting highlight of the day was my exclusive interview with country/TikTok star Avery Anna. We discussed her thoughts on Lasso and the significance of her music. You can catch that interview on the Hidden Beats Media website now!
After our interview, I was eager to catch Avery Anna’s set. Rising to fame through her TikTok videos, the Arizona-born artist proves why she’s making waves in the music industry. With Gold and Platinum streams for her song “Narcissist,” Avery Anna writes candidly about life, exes, and the judgments she faces (check out her song “Blonde”).
On my way back to the main stages, I checked the schedule and found it was almost time for Matt Lang. His performance was a blend of humor and talent, featuring some Fireball whiskey and even a few shots from the Lasso MTL shot girls.
Before the night’s three major headliners, I made a final stop at the Coca-Cola stage to see George Birge. After hearing his viral hit “Beer, Beer, Truck, Truck” on social media, I was excited to see the artist behind the song.
The evening culminated with unforgettable performances by Kip Moore, Brett Young, and Sam Hunt. Brett Young’s cover of Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” was a standout moment for me, with the crowd singing along from start to finish. Sam Hunt closed the night with a stellar 1.5-hour performance that kept the audience engaged throughout.
Overall, Lasso Country Music Festival has been my favorite festival of the summer so far, and I can’t wait to see what next year brings.
