We Are Story Tellers
Lime Cordiale In Vancouver was a night to remember as they brought their indie pop-rock magic. The Australian duo, on their “Enough of the Sweet Talk” tour, hit a practically sold-out Vogue Theatre. They lit up the city with their electrifying sound. The tour celebrated their 2024 album of the same name, and as a long-time fan, I couldn’t contain my excitement to finally witness their greatness—and it wasn’t just me. Despite the typical Vancouver rain, the crowd was massive. Fans sipped drinks and chatted about their journey with the band, sharing stories of how they first discovered Lime Cordiale. The chill vibe in the room felt like it came straight from the band’s own laid-back aesthetic. As the clock struck 8, it was clear—enough with the sweet talk. The lights dimmed, and Foxtide blasted into the night, setting the stage for something unforgettable.
Born in a garage in 2019, this So-Cal group wasted no time making waves. Elijah Gibbons-Craft and the band were magnetic, instantly turning Vancouver’s vibe into a pulsating groove. Their experimental alt-sound was a perfect blend of late ’90s rock and modern pop. Tracks like “All I C,” “My Favourite Girl Loves Reading,” and their breakout hit “She’s Not Yours” kept the crowd hooked all night. With the release of Visions in 2021, the band catapulted into the spotlight, and Vancouver’s roaring approval proved it was well-deserved. Foxtide’s electrifying performance built to a fever pitch, transforming the once chill atmosphere into a vibrant, high-energy spectacle as the crowd eagerly awaited Lime Cordiale In Vancouver
While vacationing in France at their aunt’s Musique-Cordiale festival, brothers Oliver and Louis Liembach had a spark of inspiration. They blended their last name with the festival’s name, and Lime Cordiale was born. Funnily enough, the group’s name was also a play on famous Scottish drink Lime Cordial. Armed with nothing but their voices and guitars, the duo hit the Australian roads, taking their sound wherever they could. With steady growth and three albums under their belt, they stormed the stage at Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre, kicking things off with the electrifying “Pedestal.”
The set exploded with 16 of Lime Cordiale’s best hits, from “Robbery” and “Money” to the addictive “Temper Temper.” A standout moment was their cover of Divinyls’ “I Touch Myself,” made famous during Triple J’s Like a Version. The set also featured fresh tracks like “Cold Treatment,” “Country Club,” and “When I’m Losing It” from Enough of the Sweet Talk. Personally, I couldn’t have asked for a better mix—an unapologetically upbeat flow that kept the energy sky-high. Unfortunately, Louis fell ill just before the Vancouver stop, but despite his voice not being at 100%, he poured his heart into the performance. What truly stood out was Cordiale’s ability to captivate Vancouver with their charisma. Oli hyped up the crowd with playful banter, teasing both sides of the room like a friendly competition. It eventually led to a hilarious moment where the brothers “battled” with a mix of playful antics and dramatic, colorful moves. It was comedy gold, and the crowd loved every second, amplifying the electric atmosphere. In my experience, no one does it like Aussies. From King Gizzard to Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, POND, and now Lime Cordiale, these bands are all about raw energy. The brothers’ animated performance sparked a party-like chaos that transformed the once laid-back Vancouver crowd into a whirlwind of crowd surfers, wild moves, and full-throttle singing. Every second was pure madness, and it was an absolute blast to witness.
As the final notes of “Cold Treatment” rang out, the band made their first exit, but Vancouver wasn’t ready to say goodbye. With thunderous stomping and screams that felt more like a sports arena than a concert, the crowd demanded more. Lime Cordiale couldn’t resist, returning to the stage for an encore, opening with “Waking Up Easy.” The encore was packed with energy, featuring three more tracks, including “Robbery,” before wrapping up with a heartfelt thank you and the infectious “Inappropriate Behaviour.” Ending on such a high note, the crowd couldn’t help but get involved. The entire Vogue Theatre became one giant sing-along, every corner vibrating with the collective energy. It was a moment of pure connection, a perfect way to thank the band for an unforgettable night. As the band soaked in the crowd’s love and applause, their genuine gratitude was clear. It was a sight that perfectly captured the bond between Lime Cordiale and their dedicated Vancouver fans.
