Madchild – Night Time Kill Tour hits Ottawa with a fury. He brought along with him Young Kash on several of his dates. He is no stranger to Ottawa and his fans love him every time he comes to town.
This is one of the first shows I’ve done with The Diamond Mine Agency, so I wasn’t sure what to fully expect. I can say that owner Brandon Bird is an absolute pro at what he does and puts on a great show.
A BC native, Madchild is a part of the Swollen Members. In 2009 he released a solo EP. He followed that up with the release of his first album Dope Sick in 2012. In 1993 he was named a member of the legendary “Rock Steady Crew”. In 2012 he went back to the battle rap scene. King of the Dot is an Ontario battle rap league and part of Madchild’s roots.
Babylon is playing host for the night and the layout of the venue makes for an interesting, intimate stage for the performance.
Opening acts
A handful of Ottawa locals lined up to open the night. We had Prehistoric, Proper T, DRAE, C-NOTE, Ceerouse, and Swift Crew. This was the first time seeing most of these artists which made things interesting. They all held it down pretty well. A good friend of mine Ceerouse was the one I was there to support and shoot for. The house is packed, and these guys made sure to keep it rocking.
Tour Support
Up next we had Pimpton as part of the tour support. This Atlanta rapper is very dynamic on stage and the crowd ate it up. Young Kash joined him on stage and played hype man as well as rocking some of his own tracks.
Madchild
It is time for the main event. Madchild hits the stage and the crowd erupts. He lit in to some of his most well-known tracks which the fans rocked along with. He comes out with typical style and energy that you can expect from this caliber of artist.
At the end of the night there was a small meet and greet with some of the diehard fans. Madchild makes sure his fans know how much he appreciates them.
I look forward to seeing him next time he is back in town
