We Are Story Tellers

Experience the Electric Vibes of Nightly in Minneapolis, MN

On Friday, May 2nd, Nightly made a stop in Minneapolis as part of their current headline tour, and I think it’s safe to say I’m still riding the high from the show. As an avid concertgoer, I’ve been to many shows over the years. Nightly has been in my music rotation for a long time, but this was my first time seeing them in person—and now I don’t think I’ll ever be able to pass up the opportunity to see them again.

Opening up

Brooke Alexx began the night as the first opener. Her vibrant showcase of her dynamic pop artistry and exciting stage presence kept me thoroughly entertained throughout her set. Alexx captivated the audience from the moment she stepped on stage with hits like “All My Exes’ Moms” and “Younger Guys”. Although I didn’t know Brooke Alexx before the show, she made a lasting impression, and I can’t wait to see where her career takes her moving forward.

Next up was MICO, someone I’ve had my eye on in the music scene for years. His opening set was a high-energy blend of pop-punk and emotional lyricism that immediately captivated the crowd. His charismatic stage presence, witty banter, and powerful vocals made his performance one that nobody will forget. Songs like “cut my hair” and “HOMESICK” showcased his incredible vocal skills, while his interactions with the audience added a personal touch. MICO’s ability to blend humor with heartfelt music made his set a highlight of the evening, setting the perfect tone for Nightly’s performance.

The main event

The band kicked off the night with “tv shows,” the first song on their new album titled songs to drive to. It never fails to amaze me how Nightly can take an emotional, heartfelt song and turn it into something you want to dance to. It’s like crying in the club—but in the best way possible. A moment that really took the night to another level was when the band started playing “Gas Station Cowboy Hats,” and a fan pulled out an insanely bedazzled hat that somehow made its way to lead singer Jonathan Capeci. Moments like that between a fan and their favorite band never fail to make my heart happy.

Just when you were hoping the night would never end, along came “Twenty Something,” the second-to-last song and easily the most special moment of the night. The crowd sang so loudly that Jonathan stepped back and let them take it. Clearly a fan favorite, it was one of those moments where every person in the room became connected through their love for one song—and one band.

In summary, if you have a chance to see Nightly live, you better do it. It’s so obvious that the three band members—Jonathan Capeci, Joey Beretta, and Nicholas Sainato—are seasoned professionals. Their chemistry is proof that they’re not just performing together; they’re enjoying every second of it.
