We Are Story Tellers
Walking into the venue, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Aside from seeing Palaye Royale open for Good Charlotte back in 2017 in Halifax, I wasn’t very familiar with the bands. But it turned out to be a night to remember, filled with incredible performances and high-risk maneuvers that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
When I go to a show with little knowledge of an artist, I usually spend the day listening to their music. Dimache caught my attention from the first few songs I heard on Spotify. She has a pure rock & roll energy, with an 80s-inspired style that fits perfectly with her ripping guitar solos. Her entire performance was electrifying. Dimache has toured with bands like Breaking Benjamin (she even has a cover of The Goo Goo Dolls “Iris” with them) and Staind. If you ever get the chance to see this rockstar live, don’t miss out!
Weathers, hailing from Los Angeles, was another highlight of the night. The crowd already knew their music, especially their hit “Happy Pills,” and the band fed off that energy. They gave me serious Marianas Trench vibes from the mid-2000s era. Vocalist Cameron Boyer brought an extra layer of fun with his Elvis Presley-style leg dances, which had the crowd cheering even louder.
From the moment I See Stars hit the stage, they had the crowd in the palm of their hands. Vocalist Devin Oliver moved all over the stage, and fans screamed for even the slightest chance to touch him. The audience sang along to every word, creating an incredible connection. As is often the case, the band appreciated Montreal’s reputation as a welcoming city with an amazing music scene.
This was my second time seeing Palaye Royale, and once again, they didn’t disappoint. Frontman Remington Leith dominated the stage, jumping into the audience barricade with guitarist Dave Green to further ignite the crowd’s energy. Remington was unstoppable, from crawling across the stage to climbing the set and even reaching the balcony above. The chaos culminated in a mosh pit during “Viva Las Vegas,” adding to the intensity of the night.
All in all, I would love to see any of these artists again. It was an unforgettable night filled with powerful music and an electric atmosphere. The energy from the artists and the crowd blew my expectations out of the water.
