Peach Pit In Vancouver

Peach Pit In Vancouver was all about the vibes as the hometown group returned to kick off the venue’s summer concert season at Deer Lake Park. This stop on the Long Hair, Long Life Tour felt more like a giant backyard hangout than a big concert. Co-headlining with Briston Maroney, the show had a laid-back energy that matched the very hot sunny weather and grassy hills packed with fans stretched out across blankets. The sun was relentless, and many fans were posted up to either claim spots on the lawn or grab food from trucks parked throughout the venue. Mac & cheese, ice cream, jerk chicken, the place had it all. BNNY opened the night, and though we didn’t catch the set, fans said it was the perfect way to ease into the evening.

Briston Maroney Brings The Heat

Once Briston Maroney hit the stage, there was an energy shift. To make his mark on the park, he lifted his silver SG above his head and launched into “Real Good Swimmer,” the first track from his latest album JIMMY. Most of his set came from that record, and songs like “Tomatoes,” “Better Than You,” and “Land of Light” really lit up the crowd. Still, nothing hit harder than the classics. “June” had everyone moving, and “Under My Skin” was met with a wave of cheers. But it was the closer, “Freakin’ Out On The Interstate,” that really brought the crowd to life. There were moments when Briston had everyone cheering on cue, and it felt like we were all locked in with him. Whether you were a longtime fan or hearing him for the first time, he left an impression. As the set came to an end, fans screamed for more, they wouldn’t need to wait long as Peach Pit In Vancouver hit the stage at 8.

Peach Pit Brings It Home

Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for. Peach Pit stepped on stage and it felt like a full-circle moment. The Vancouver-based band comprised of members Neil Smith (Vocals), Chris Vanderkooy (Guitar), Peter Wilton (Bass), and Mikey Pascuzzi (Drums). The group started back in 2016, with EP Sweet FA and have since gone on to release 4 full-length albums. While they’ve played countless shows since, there’s nothing quite like watching them play a packed hometown set. Earlier this year they performed to a sold-out crowd at Vancouver’s infamous Fox Cabaret. When performing, the vibe they give off is exactly what you’d expect: four friends, making music, laughing between songs, and just genuinely enjoying being up there. It’s very “let’s get drunk in the garage and make a song”. Their sound is a mix of surfy indie rock and nostalgic that they claim is “chewed bubblegum pop,” and that checks out perfectly. It felt honest, yet unpolished in the best way possible, and it felt just right.

Setlist & Highlights

They kicked things off with a walkout intro of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” before diving into “Magpie”. From there, it was a fast-paced ride through fan favorites and deeper cuts. Tracks like “Alrighty Aphrodite,” “Shampoo Bottles,” and “Outta Here” had the crowd singing along from front to back. When the acoustic performance of “Peach Pit” came on, you could feel the energy rise and the audience was truly in tune. But the real highlight came at the end. During “Tommy’s Party,” Neil and Peter brought their dads on stage to play harmonica. It was a quiet, sweet moment that stood out in the middle of all the chaos, one of those things you could only experience at Peach Pit In Vancouver.

So Long... For Now

Peach Pit in Vancouver felt like the perfect start to summer. There wasn’t a single person walking out without a smile on their face, and it’s easy to see why. The band brought everything to the stage, from the wild guitar kicks, hair flips, to even the intimate family moment, and made it feel like one big reunion. If this show was any sign of what to expect, this tour is one worth catching. And knowing Peach Pit, it probably won’t be long before they’re playing another unannounced set somewhere in town.
