Pierce The Veil in Toronto: Immense Intensity and Unending Passion

San Diego-based American rock band Pierce the Veil brought the Can’t Hear You Tour to a sold-out crowd at Toronto’s Budweiser stage on May 28, 2025, accompanied by special guests, long-time collaborator Sleeping with Sirens and Beach Weather and marked its ninth stop of the tour. The night was filled with immense intensity and unending passion for post-hardcore and alternative rock music as each band played many of their greatest hits.

Beach Weather

Setting the tone for the night was the American pop-rock band Beach Weather, formed by former A Rocket to the Moon frontman Nick Santino. Despite their brief set, the band showcased their laid-back music and style, leaving a lasting impression on Toronto fans. Their final song was Sex, Drugs, Etc., which is currently their most-streamed track. The band boasts an impressive 11.9 million monthly Spotify listeners.

Sleeping With Sirens

Next up, Sleeping with Sirens took the stage. The audience was greeted by the familiar buzz of an amplifier and the guitar intro to Kick Me to start things off. The energy elevated, turning it up a notch as Kellin Quinn showcased his dynamic stage presence and intensity from jumping up and down while tossing and swaying the mic. At times, the entire band jumped in sync, and Kellin’s distinct high-pitched vocals shone through. They took fans through memory lane, reminiscing as they went through their catalogue of fan favourites like Do It Now Remember It Later, Better Off Dead, A Trophy Father’s Trophy Son and If You Can’t Hang. Sleeping with Sirens were the perfect band to ramp up the energy at an all-time high, leaving the audience wondering if there would be any left by the time the headliners took the stage.

Finally, the moment arrived; the curtain was up, building anticipation for what it would reveal. Another set of banners was unveiled and shortly dropped on stage. Members got into position to kick off Death of an Executioner, and the hardcore fans began crowd-surfing one after the other. The energy was already off the charts, less than a third of the way into the setlist. Bassist Jaime Preciado was a standout, a powerhouse of energy, delivering unmatched passion and skill with his expressiveness, spin moves, and guitar tricks. They continued to play tracks from their 2007 and 2016 albums, A Flair for the Dramatic and Misadventures

To recoup, the band would mellow down to an acoustic setup to perform a couple of songs. This tempo change allowed the audience to appreciate the excellent production, themed visuals, and lighting effects. To pick it back up, Vic Fuentes pulled out a megaphone prop that lit up sections of the crowd as he did the lyrics to May These Noises Startle You In Your Sleep Tonight, transitioning seamlessly to Hell Above. The audience was still heavily engaged. They enthusiastically clapped, waved their hands, and lit up their phones as they sang along word for word. Vic took a moment to introduce his band individually, calling them his Emergency Contact leading up to the track itself as he dedicated the song to his wife. Shortly, the band left the stage, with Vic addressing his gratitude to Toronto, teasing as if the night had ended. The video board then displayed text zooming in on the crowd, asking, “Can We Create Something Beautiful?” followed by a subtext, “And Destroy it.” The band then returned as the crowd erupted with excitement. Performing a 3-song encore with the final song, King For A Day. Being the obvious choice, Vic then invited Sleeping with Sirens’ frontman, Kellin Quinn, to join the band for a proper send-off.

In Closing

Ultimately, Pierce the Veil has consistently proven themselves, time after time. Their devoted fan bases attest to the significance of their music, its influence on multiple generations, and impact on the music scene. The tour is headed back to the States until the end of July before embarking on the European leg in the fall and the Latin American leg in winter.
