We Are Story Tellers
P!nk in Vancouver was truly out of this world. The phenomenal singer-songwriter and acrobat finally brought her Trustfall tour to the city after a year-long delay, and the experience was unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed. We were fortunate enough to attend the first of two sold-out nights at Rogers Arena, and it was an electrifying, unforgettable event. As I approached the arena, even an hour before the show was set to begin, I was struck by the lines of excited fans wrapping around the venue. The buzz was palpable, with P!nk’s music echoing from within and fans singing and dancing along to every word. The energy was building to an unprecedented level, creating an electric atmosphere long before the show even started.
When the doors opened and thousands of fans surged toward the merch lines, floor level, and their seats, it was clear that whatever was about to unfold would be legendary. DJ KidCutUp kicked off the night, energizing the crowd with a dynamic mix of ’90s and 2000s hits that built the anticipation to a fever pitch.
As 7:30 approached, it was time for the second opener of the night: The Script. Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, this group proved to be an electrifying force, and their impressive stats—over 10 billion streams, 12 million albums sold, and 6 UK #1 albums—spoke for themselves. Although their set was brief, it was packed with energy, featuring hits like “Superheroes,” “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” and “For The First Time.” Closing their set with their mega-hit “Hall of Fame,” which boasts 1.5 billion plays on Spotify alone, The Script had the entire crowd on their feet, singing along passionately. It was the perfect choice to cap off their performance, as the energy in the arena was at an all-time high and the crowd was absolutely on fire.
To set the scene, every seat in the house was packed, with people dressed in pink or in outfits that reflected the night’s vibrant mood. The energy was so intense it felt like you could literally feel the heartbeat of the crowd. Then, as the lights went out, the arena erupted into an unprecedented roar of cheers and screams. The sheer wave of emotion was overwhelming, creating an earth-shattering moment that surpassed any show I’ve ever experienced at the venue. Above the sides of the stage, two screens began playing a video featuring an almost robotic P!nk, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience and hyping up the crowd. As the video concluded, a brilliantly illuminated mouth at the center of the stage opened to reveal The Incredible P!nk.
P!nk cemented her opening with a breathtaking descent from the top of the stage, setting the arena ablaze with lights as she came down. She kicked off the night with thrilling aerial stunts set to Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams,” seamlessly transitioning into her spectacular mega-hit “Get the Party Started.” As she landed, the crowd erupted into a frenzy. Suspended in mid-air, P!nk was nothing short of mesmerizing, leaving many, including myself, with our jaws on the floor. The stage itself embraced a vibrant neon-summer theme, featuring giant beach balls, neon signs, brightly lit arches, and backup dancers clad in glowing shorts, adding to the show’s electrifying atmosphere.
With such a vast body of work, crafting the perfect setlist might seem like an impossible task, but if anyone can achieve it, it’s P!nk. Her 21-track setlist took the audience on a journey through her career, organized into a captivating four-act structure. The show kicked off with 2000s hits like “Get the Party Started,” personal favorite “Just Like a Pill,” and “Who Knew.” As the night progressed, she delivered powerful performances of “Just Give Me a Reason,” “F**kin Perfect,” “Just Like a Fire,” and more. Adding an unexpected twist, she incorporated some covers, including Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love,” Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker,” and 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up?”
The show was filled with highlights, from the perfectly curated soundtrack to P!nk’s engaging moments between songs, which ranged from hilarious comedy to deeply heartfelt sentiments. One standout aspect that resonated with me and many others was P!nk’s astonishing acrobatic skills. During tracks like “Turbulence” and “Try,” it was truly awe-inspiring to see her flawless vocal performance while executing breathtaking aerial stunts. Her ability to hold notes perfectly while flying or suspended in mid-air showcased an impressive level of skill and artistry.
For her encore, P!nk chose “So What,” a performance that had every audience member completely captivated. The high-budget spectacle required impeccable precision as P!nk soared across Rogers Arena, landing on various platforms scattered throughout the venue. As confetti rained down and she flew through it, singing each note with perfect pitch, the scene was nothing short of breathtaking. The combination of her acrobatic prowess and flawless vocal performance made it an astonishing and unforgettable finale.
As the night drew to a close and fans left the arena with nothing but smiles and dropped jaws, it was clear that everyone felt they had just witnessed the greatest show of their lives. Having attended many concerts over the years, I can confidently say that P!nk delivered one of, if not the best arena shows I’ve ever seen. It was an extraordinary experience, and if I hear P!nk In Vancouver happens again, I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
