What was the early spark for you to get into music?

The earliest spark for me getting into music was when I would hear songs on the radio as a kid and endlessly watch music videos on MTV and VH1, and I was just like a sponge absorbing the lyrics and melodies and I could sing along with almost every song that came on. I was also into dance class as a little girl, which also helped inspire and spark me musically.

Who are some of the inspirations you drew from in music?

Some of my inspirations for my music career are Annie Lennox, Fleetwood Mac, Lana Del Rey, Rolling Stones.. Oh man, there are so many really the list goes on…

Tell us about your recent project Wrong Girl?

I just released “Wrong Girl” music video, which I shot out in LA with director, Jonathan Mariande. I produced the video along with doing the storyboard, wardrobe, styling, production design, choreography and casting. In the video I portray a few different characters, the Godzilla femme fatale in black latex manipulating the plane, the Dominatrix Superhero in the LED tunnel that is battling Godzilla and everyone else that keeps trying to drag her down, and then there is the Hollywood glam ego girl who once thought she was on top of the world, flying high on private jets, but she has no clue that she is totally out of control of her own destiny and is being manipulated by the Godzilla Femme and the cronies she surrounds herself with.

The theme of the video is that you are the company you keep, and ultimately you can only take so much emotional abuse from a narcissist before you hit a breaking point and that’s exactly where my headspace was when I wrote the song and video. I was fueled by anger, and driven by rage. The song is about the struggle of healing from a lost love, feeling misunderstood, fighting with my inner yin and yang and the transformation of a new character as I was forced to reinvent myself over and over again, shedding the old skin that conformed and binded me to the artificial version of myself.

How does your experience growing up with your father’s vinyl collection influence your approach to modern music production?

My experience growing up with a musical family really shaped me from an early age. My mom played piano really well, my brother played guitar and sang in a band, and my father also played guitar, and he was a big vinyl collector. It just helped me to be engulfed with so many different musical influences and that is what helped shape my sound today. I like to draw from many different eras and genres of music, and put it into a modern twist sound wise.

How has your music evolved over the years?

I would say my music has evolved over the last years. When I first started out writing songs, I actually had no clue how to write songs and I would improvise a lot to figure out what I liked and what I didn’t like, and now I feel like I finally understand a formula for writing pop songs. I always of course still learning, growing and evolving and that is the reason I love collaborating with other artists and producers in songwriting sessions, because it is always unique and different on how it will turn out.

If you could create the perfect atmosphere or visual setting for listeners while they experience one of your songs, what would it look like?

My ultimate atmosphere or visual setting would be to perform at The Sphere in Las Vegas with some sort of interactive and futuristic laser light show.

What is one instrument or sound you've always wanted to incorporate into your music but haven’t yet?

One sound or element I would love to incorporate into my songs would be more of a Country sound, which is currently in the works as we speak!

How has your experience as a woman in the music industry shaped your creative voice and the stories you choose to tell in your songs?

Working as a woman in the music industry has not been an easy road, however it has given me a lot of fuel to write songs with. We are constantly faced with power struggles in this industry, and unfortunately it’s part of the game. However, I am getting better at letting go of the toxins, and holding onto the people that continue to help me shine and move forward. It’s a real process. I constantly have to remind myself to focus on the things that are within my control.

What is one thing you believe should be asked more in an interview that isn’t asked enough?

One question I would love to hear asked in an interview that is not asked enough would be “How are you feeling in this moment about your musical journey and career, does making music professionally make you happy these days?”

What is something on your go to playlist that people wouldn’t expect that you are listening to?

One thing on my Go-To Playlist recently has been Night Ranger “Sister Christian”. LOL..not sure why but I just recently rediscovered that song and I love it. It’s also a great song for driving and letting go of everything.

Who plays you in the movie of your life?

There are many people that play me in the movie of my life, but if I would have to choose one character, I would say Marilyn Monroe because she was misunderstood and objectified but ultimately all she wanted was to be loved for the talented and intelligent woman she was.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

I would love collaborate with Nick Drake because I felt like he was such an inspirational singer/songwriter that was underrated, misunderstood and passed too soon.

What motivates you to keep walking the musical path?

The thing that keeps me walking the musical line is passion and the fact that it’s in my blood. It’s definitely not about the money. LOL.

What do you hope people take away from your music?

When people hear my music, I hope they can reflect on some emotion or fragment of their lives and that it stirs something deeper within them. I will keep writing songs for that one song that everyone can relate to.
