How did you get started in music?

Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Even as a little child, around 3 or 4 years old, I would climb onto a chair and perform songs from old tapes, completely captivated by the joy of singing and entertaining. My parents noticed my passion early on and encouraged it by enrolling me in a music class for kids. From there, I transitioned to music school, where I truly immersed myself in the world of music. It quickly became an inseparable part of who I am, and I’ve never looked back since.

Can you tell us the story behind your release of Feeling Whole in My Body and how you came up with the concept?

‘Feeling Whole In My Body’ came to me during a time when I was finally reconnecting with who I truly am. It felt like shedding old doubts, stepping into a fresh space, and fully embracing my strength and freedom. Writing it was my way of capturing that celebration – of finally moving forward and feeling like I was beginning a new chapter.

For me, this song isn’t just about the music – it’s a reflection of that personal moment. It’s a reminder of how far I’ve come, and every time I hear it, I feel that sense of liberation all over again. It’s like a little promise I made to myself to keep holding onto that feeling no matter what.

What is your process like when putting together music?

Usually, my creative process starts late at night when everything feels calm and still. Around midnight or even later, when my mind is clear, I find it easiest to connect with my ideas. Sometimes I’ll hum a melody or a few words, other times I’ll sit at the piano and let my fingers guide me. Once I feel I have something meaningful—a spark that feels true—I’ll share my drafts with my producer, who helps shape and elevate the initial ideas, giving them what I like to call ‘beautiful outfits.’

For example, when I was working on ‘Feeling Whole In My Body,’ I wanted the sound to embody that uplifting, funky energy that matched the emotional freedom I was feeling. When I shared it with my producer, Roy Hamilton, he instantly connected with the vision, and our collaboration brought the song to a whole new level. Recording in Toronto added a special layer to the process—it felt like being in a new environment helped me explore the song’s meaning even more deeply. It’s those moments of connection and creative flow that really make the process magical for me.

How do you think your music has evolved from early years until now?

My music has grown so much over time, and I think the biggest change has been learning to trust myself. When I first started, I was so shy and worried about making music that others would like, instead of focusing on what felt real to me. It took me a while to realize that the ideas I wanted to express mattered too.

Writing my own songs was a big leap for me. Even though music has always been a part of my life, songwriting felt like uncharted territory. Over time, though, as I got to know myself better and started believing in my creative instincts, everything about my music became more personal and meaningful. That shift – finding confidence in my voice – has been the most important part of my evolution as an artist.

If you could create a song inspired by a specific moment in history or a cultural movement, what would it be and why?

If I were to write a song inspired by a specific moment in history or a cultural movement, I’d focus on the evolution of how women are viewed—how we’ve broken free from limiting stereotypes and are now recognized for our leadership, innovation, and equality. I’d want to highlight the rise of women in various fields, from politics to the arts, and how women’s voices are becoming more prominent in spaces that were once male-dominated.

This shift has been driven by movements for equality, but also by everyday women who have refused to be confined by old expectations. The song would reflect this ongoing journey of breaking down barriers, embracing individuality, and celebrating the strength and resilience of women everywhere. Thank you for asking such an inspiring question!

How do you navigate moments of creative block, and do you have any unconventional methods to reignite inspiration?

I’ll be honest, dealing with writer’s block isn’t easy for me. I don’t always have a great process for pushing through it, so I tend to write when I feel inspired. For me, forcing myself to finish a song when I’m not feeling it feels like digging a tunnel that leads nowhere. However, I’ve learned some great tips from experiences like attending Andrea Stolpe’s songwriting retreat, where she taught me valuable tools to break out of creative blocks. Sometimes, simply changing melodies or shifting the perspective of a song can work wonders and reignite inspiration.

What is something interesting youve learned about yourself during your career?

I’ve had a lot of moments during my career that taught me new things about myself, but one of the most personal lessons I’ve learned is that I am enough. For a long time, I struggled with self-doubt, thinking I needed to be something else or prove myself in ways that didn’t feel true to who I really am. But over time, I’ve learned to embrace my individuality and trust that my voice and my music are enough exactly as they are. Accepting this has been one of the most freeing and empowering lessons I’ve taken with me throughout my journey.

If you could collaborate with an artist from a completely different genre, who would it be, and what kind of song would you create together?

Oh, I absolutely love exploring different music genres, and my playlists are usually full of a wide variety. But if I had to choose, I think the rock & roll side of me would definitely be drawn to collaborating with bands like Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, or Coldplay. I feel like working with any of them would bring out a whole different side of me and allow me to experiment with that raw, high-energy rock sound.

On the other hand, if I were to choose a completely different genre, I’d love to do something in jazz—something like the collaboration between Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett. I think their mix of vocal strength and jazz influences is pure brilliance. A song like that would be an incredible blend of emotion and musicality, and it would allow me to explore new creative spaces.

What role does your heritage play in shaping your artistic vision, and how do you incorporate it into your music?

My heritage definitely shapes my artistic vision in ways I’m really proud of. My dad was a huge music fan, and I grew up surrounded by his collection of old vinyl—Bee Gees, The Beatles, and so many other classic artists. That exposure gave me a love for timeless melodies and a really cool, eclectic taste in music from a young age.

On the other hand, growing up in Lithuania introduced me to a completely different musical world. Lithuanian music has such a rich history, full of unique traditions and emotional depth. While my music leans more modern, I think that mix of influences—classic international sounds and the deep roots of my own culture—naturally finds its way into my songs. It’s part of what makes my sound feel personal and connected to where I come from.

Do you think your music reflects who you are today, or does it also capture parts of who you aspire to become?

I think my music reflects both who I am today and the person I’m becoming. Each song feels like a snapshot of a moment in my life—my thoughts, feelings, and experiences at that time. But it’s also a way of exploring who I aspire to be, the growth I’m working towards. I believe that as human beings, we’re always evolving, and my music grows and changes with me. You can probably hear that journey one song at a time, as I keep learning and discovering new parts of myself.

How do you approach storytelling in your songs when dealing with complex emotions that are hard to express in words?

Storytelling in songs helps me express emotions I can’t always articulate in real life. I remember Adele once said in an interview that she finds it easier to express how she truly feels through her music, and I feel the same way. There’s something about the process of creating a song—finding the right melody or metaphor—that lets me dig into emotions that might otherwise stay unspoken. It’s like music becomes a safe space for those deeper feelings to come out.

How do you decide when a song is ‘finished,’ and have you ever revisited a completed piece to transform it entirely?

Deciding when a song is ‘finished’ has been a learning process for me. Early on, I struggled with perfectionism—always thinking something could be better. But I’ve realized that chasing perfection can take forever, and a song might never feel truly ‘done.’ Over time, I’ve learned to trust the process and let go when I feel the song captures the heart of what I want to say. Now, I aim to focus on the essence of the piece rather than overthinking every detail.

What is something you think should be asked more in an interview that isnt asked enough?

I think it’s so important to ask artists about their struggles. From the outside, it often looks like everyone is thriving, but the reality is that there are so many challenges along the way. Whether it’s creative blocks, self-doubt, or just the pressure to keep going when things aren’t clicking, it’s a tough journey. Talking about those moments could not only bring more honesty to the conversation but also remind others—artists or not—that they’re not alone in their struggles.

What are some of your 2025 goals or milestones your looking to hit?

In 2025, one of my main goals is to perform live as much as I can. There’s nothing quite like the energy of being on stage and connecting with the audience. I just love it! I also want to see my music reach as many people as possible. It’s really important to me that my songs touch and inspire people, and I’m excited for more listeners to hear and connect with my work. I’m looking forward to growing and pushing myself creatively while sharing this journey with others!
