Spotlight: Dallas Alexander. A Summer of Music, Collaboration, and Milestones

In this edition of Spotlight: Dallas Alexander, we dive into the exciting summer journey of this country music rising star. From his electrifying collaboration with Gord Bamford on their latest track to his upcoming headlining performance at the legendary Cook County Saloon, Dallas gives us a glimpse into his world of music and unforgettable moments. With new releases and milestone performances on the horizon, Dallas Alexander proves why he’s a standout talent in the country music scene.

The last time we chatted was about a year ago when you released Child of this Land. How has your summer been since that release?

It was an incredible summer—non-stop touring, hitting a bunch of new venues across the States, meeting so many new people, and connecting with tons of fans. I spent a lot of time in Music City (Nashville), and honestly, I can’t complain!

You have a new piece Meet You At The Riverbank with Gord Bamford. How did this track come together and how was it working with Gord?

The idea for this song hit me one late night, driving home from a gig around 2 AM. As I was cruising down the highway, I remember thinking, Man, I’m so glad I don’t have to go to church tomorrow morning. That thought stuck with me, so I brought it to a writing session in Nashville with Blue Foley and Trick Savage. We ended up crafting something with a more stripped-down, acoustic vibe. The lyrics carry the message that God isn’t just in the church on Sunday 😉

Working with Gord is always a blast. It’s been such a great opportunity to learn from him—he’s got a wealth of experience, having been in the music biz for over 25 years!

Did you learn anything unexpected working with Gord?

That we are quite similar, business wise 😉

You are gearing up for a headline show at the Cook County Saloon. What can fans expect from the live experience?

Our goal is simple: to pack the venue with electric energy, drive high bar sales lol, and create a night that people won’t forget. And after the show? The party definitely doesn’t stop. We always hang around for meet and greets, and honestly, it’s one of my favorite parts of the night. I love connecting with the fans, hearing their stories, and just seeing who shows up—it’s always a good time!

How important is the live show experience to you?

That’s what it’s all about. That’s how you build a real connection with people and create loyal fans. It’s about giving them more than just the music—it’s about showing them who we are and what we bring to the table. When they feel that, they get what we’re about, and that’s when the real magic happens.

How has the camaraderie and discipline from your military experience influenced how you collaborate with other musicians or perform on stage?

My military career really taught me how to get comfortable being uncomfortable. Whether I’m working with a new songwriter, a fresh producer, or stepping into a new studio, it’s not a huge leap for me. I’ve learned to just roll with it. Being outside my comfort zone isn’t something I shy away from—it’s actually where the best growth happens

What are some of the bigger hurdles you’ve navigated that younger artists might like to hear?

The industry is full of hurdles—some big, some small. From your first open mic, to your first gig, your first ticketed show, your first play in Nashville, your first professional songwriting session, your first studio album… the list goes on. Each one feels massive when you’re facing it, like it’s this huge, daunting obstacle. But once you get past it, you look back and realize it wasn’t as bad as you thought. The key is staying focused, staying obsessed with the goal, and pushing through no matter what.

What’s one lesson from your time in the military that you think every musician should learn to navigate the industry?

A lot of people don’t realize this, but military service actually arms you with a unique set of tools that can set you up for success in pretty much any field—even in something as notoriously tough and competitive as the music industry. My advice? When your military career ends, don’t feel like you’ve lost your purpose. Instead, Embrace the opportunity to redefine your mission and pursue what truly drives you using all the skills, discipline, and resilience you’ve honed during your service.

How do you see your music evolving over the next 5 years?

As I continue to grow as a guitar player, vocalist, and songwriter, I fully expect my music to grow with me. At least, that’s the goal—hopefully it doesn’t get worse! But honestly, I think as I get better, both as an artist and a person, it’ll show in the music I create.

What song of yours best showcases who you are if you had to introduce your music to a new listener for the first time?

Can’t Blame My Bloodline

If you could score a movie, what kind of themes do you think you'd like to use?

A military theme, of course, with a love story and country songs sprinkled throughout? I don’t think you can get much better than that!

What are the next milestones you are looking to hit?

A few goals I’ve got lined up for this year are: moving to Nashville, TN (we’re making that happen in January), opening for Whiskey Myers, hitting the road hard with a relentless tour, and, of course, making some new music.

What is one final piece of advice you would like to leave for readers?

Jesus, I could write a novel, lol… But what I always tell my two teenage boys is this: ‘Spend your time doing what you’re passionate about. If it doesn’t fire you up, don’t fuckin’ do it!'”

Spotlight: Dallas Alexander is offically in the books. Big thanks to Dallas for taking the time to chat!
