Last time we chatted was back in 2023 around the release of Timezone and I am curious how you kept busy this summer?

I spent most of the summer in Los Angeles and wrote so many songs.!! Along with lots of hiking, some time in Malibu and hanging out.

Looking back, are there any childhood memories, beyond music, that you feel continue to influence your artistry or approach to your career?

I would say my adolescent years are what led me to songwriting itself. Navigating the world as a young person is a complex thing. Theres so many new emotions and experiences that come with being in high school. I was very inspired by my teenage years and songwriting beyond a hobby quickly became a way for me to understand how I felt about certain things etc.

You have some new music coming up with City of Angels. Tell us the story behind that one and how it came to be?

City of Angels is my love letter to Los Angeles. It captures the journey over the past year since moving the city from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. LA can feel vibrant, but also  isolating and has truly pushed me to grow in ways I hadnt imagined. This song is about finding beauty in contrast, navigating the bittersweet nature of a city that gives and takes.

What is your favorite part of the process if you had to pick between Writing, Production or Playing live?

Its so hard to choose! I would say writing has always been habitual for me. As I tour more and more and experience larger crowds, playing live is such a profound energy exchange with the audience.

What is one of the more interesting things you have learned about yourself during your music career?

The work you put in today will not necessarily bring the reward tomorrow rather 6 months from now. An apology I like to use is a garden. If you try to watch a tree grow it will feel like forever. If you water it everyday, plant other seeds and enjoy the flowers, that is when the growth will feel natural. Also the last thing to grow on the tree is the fruitis a quote I like as it reminds me that great things truly take time.

If you could record a song in any unique or unexpected location to capture a certain mood, where would you choose, and why?

Id love to record an acoustic set in a botanical garden 🙂 I love being close to nature and making art combined with being in a serene state would be magic.

What’s one piece of advice or insight from The Launch that you still carry with you, and how has it shaped your decisions since then?

Authenticity is always rewarded. There were moments in that show where I pushed for my creative opinion and it proved to be super beneficial. Creating art for yourself rather what you think people want from youis a liberating thing Ive practiced with these new songs.

We asked this one before but I'm wondering if your answer might have changed to the question: What is one thing you think should be asked more in an interview that isn't asked enough?

What is your why. As Im coming up on half a decade in this industry, the artists I observe who have the strongest fan bases and success are ones who have a very steadfast vision.

Looking back how do you think your younger self would react to your music?

Younger me would be really proud that Ive found my way back to my acoustic roots. There was a moment in time where I felt in order to be considered popId have to let go of my folk singer songwriter roots. Im so excited that This new project is rooted in that same singer songwriter vibe I once ran from.

If you are introducing your music to someone new for the first time what is the song that best showcases who you are?

My song the walls. This is the most raw and organic song Ive every released. I wrote the chorus sitting on a rock overlooking my childhood cottage on the lake. Its really special to me.

Who plays you in the movie of your life?

Emma Stone

Last but not least, are you happy?

Im really happy 🙂 no BS. Ive truly done so much healing and growing this past year. Ive taken protect your peacevery literally and Im content. 🙂
