We Are Story Tellers

Steel Panther In Vancouver

Steel Panther in Vancouver was the ultimate way to close out 2024. As the year came to a fiery end, the comedic “glam hair metalheads” took over the sold-out Commodore Ballroom for their wild “Let’s Get Toasted” event. We were lucky enough to experience the absolute mayhem and madness that only Steel Panther can deliver. It was an incredible way to ring in the new year.

Even before the show started, I knew this night would be unforgettable. Despite Vancouver’s infamous downpour, a sea of fans in neon, curly wigs, and sunglasses wrapped around the block, all channeling that wild ’80s vibe. By 8 PM, the Commodore Ballroom was packed with electric energy, everyone ready for the madness ahead. First up to ignite the night was Toronto based rocker KØSTER.

KØSTER

Hailing from Vancouver and now based in Toronto, KØSTER was the perfect opener for Steel Panther. His high-energy set tackled life struggles and mental health, with tracks like “Take All My Money,” “Wounded,” “When I’m Gone,” and “Numbbrained” hitting hard. As a rising star since 2022, KØSTER’s powerful performance and the crowd’s electric response show that he’s got a bright future ahead.

OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW YEAR

As KØSTER’s set ended to roaring applause, the anticipation built to a fever pitch. The Commodore Ballroom buzzed with energy as fans chatted excitedly, some saying, “We come to this every year”. Then, the lights dropped, and the crowd went wild. As “Eyes of a Panther” blew Vancouver into a frenzy, it was a perfect kick-off for Steel Panther.

What followed was a riotous night of rock ‘n’ glam as “Michael Starr,” “Stix Zadinia,” “Spyder”, and “Satchel” tore Vancouver apart. From start to finish, their epic performance was pure synergy, with each member shining as the crowd went wild. In all my years of concert-going, no band has transported fans to another time like Steel Panther. The sound was cranked to 11, the music blended the best of Motley Crue, Def Leppard, and Twisted Sister into a relentless, unforgettable show.

Setlist

The set of Steel Panther In Vancouver was nothing but non-stop hits. Tracks like “Asian Hooker,” “Friends With Benefits,” “Girl From Oklahoma,” and the iconic “Gloryhole” had the crowd roaring through all 13 songs. Every moment was a highlight, thanks to the band’s cheeky, sexually charged lyrics and wild energy. There was a particular section of the show that really showed off the band’s improv ability and it came in the form of Jessica.

Highlights

When Starr pulled a fan from the crowd to join him on stage, none of us could have predicted what was about to unfold. Jaws to the floor, as the entire crowd was left speechless as the bold fan, full of energy, playfully flashed the audience multiple times and even revealed some unexpected vocal chops. The band, clearly smitten, didn’t hold back—each member took turns singing impromptu love songs dedicated to her, their admiration oozing from every word. But the show didn’t stop there. The moment built to an unforgettable serenade of “Girl From Oklahoma,” the crowd roared in approval. Just when we thought things couldn’t get more wild, Starr took it a step further, inviting an entire wave of women onto the stage for a mesmerizing dance to “17 Girls”. It was a sight to behold—an electrifying moment of unity and pure chaos that left the venue buzzing.

In Closing

As “Gloryhole” rocked the night to a close, Steel Panther In Vancouver erupted into a frenzy of ecstasy with the final notes. This wasn’t just a concert—it was an unforgettable experience that left everyone in awe. Steel Panther perfectly captures the essence of ‘80s hair metal, while adding their own comedic twist that has redefined the genre since 2008 (or 2000 when they were Metal Skool). It’s incredible to see so many come together to celebrate a style of music that’s rarely heard in today’s music landscape. As the Commodore emptied and fans spilled onto Vancouver’s streets, there was a palpable sense of joy— you could still feel the buzzing from the incredible show and in attendance were already eager for next year’s madness. Steel Panther delivers an over-the-top, 80’s-infused rock experience that’s impossible to fully capture in words—but trust me, it’s a show you can’t afford to miss. If they’re coming to your town, grab tickets immediately—I promise you’ll have the time of your life.
