The show kicked off with “Finally Over It,” and Summer came out looking absolutely stunning in a white wedding dress, walking her elderly groom down a catwalk like it was the real deal. Then, mid catwalk, she takes a phone call. And just like that, the fairy tale falls apart. She dumps the poor guy right there on stage. Money confetti rains down, and in a flash that wedding dress transforms into a sparkly corset bodysuit. That’s when you knew the night was really about to start.
22-songs. That’s how much ground she covered, taking the crowd through her whole trilogy of love and heartbreak. And the production matched the ambition song for song. There were moments that felt like being dropped into an old school Hollywood party. Aerial acts, feathered dancers, actual fire performers, costume changes left and right. At one point, Summer literally performed inside a giant martini glass filled with pink water while dancers moved underneath her during “Stretch You Out.” Yes, you read that right. In a martini glass.
